Hanpudun Holiday Hotel Yangshuo West Street

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Morning Sun Hotel on West Rd (shopping street in Yangzhou). The hotel was clean and the kind bed comfortable. The hotel has an open atrium center, so rooms open to hallway that is open from first floor to roof. This made the mornings and early evenings in the hotel very loud. People yelling from the lobby up to their rooms above, or vice versa. Duting the day, maybe not a annoying, but we had the opportunity to sleep in and were woken by the noise.
The front desk responded weill to our request for mosquito repellant for the room. They gave us a diffuser to use with repellant. We inquired about the possibility for one due to all the smashed mosquitoes we saw on the walls of our room. We never saw a live mosquito once we had the diffuser.
There is no restaurant with the hotel, but it is only steps away from a street that has at least 4 restaurants that serve western (and Chinese) style breakfasts. Lucy's was our favorite.
Guilin/Yangshuo is a beautiful part of the country. I would recommend staying at this hotel. It's not a 4-star American hotel, but decent enough that the location makes up for anything it may lack.
Staying a West Street (or Road?) is the perfect location for the area. It's Hopping at night with many places to eat and shop. And definitely great for people-watching!

Room Tip: I think I would request as high as possible to avoid some of the noise from the hall. But THERE IS...

We wanted to stay a few nights in Yangshuo, Taxi dropped us off at the top of West st, pointed in a direction of many hotel... We walked along and got a good feel about this place... negotiated 2 rooms for family of 5.
English was about 5/10 very good.
Location was opposite a HUGE construction site - work starts at 6 and finishes at midnight ish.
This didnt bother us as the beds were comfortable and we did many activites everyday...
Being winter we needed warm rooms .. old character buildings are thin.. first room the aircon worked but noisy - the staff moved us to another room.
No need in here but plenty of cafe everywhere.

Room Tip: If unsure - ask to see the room.

Nice independent hotel. Nothing wrong. But it is just fine, not special.
Front desk staff is polite, but not specially welcoming. They speak good English.

Rooms are disposed around an inner court, that amplify sounds/loud people. This architecture is a point in favour of the hotel, as it gives it a flavour of boutique hotel.

Stylish rooms, clean, well equipped and very well priced, although not big. Worth the price. Rooms on the back (mine) have a wall opposite the window, so no views nor natural light. Fair WiFI.

No food/beverage options, beyond a coffee machine in the lobby. Free bottled water in the room.

Hotel is the middle of the action, inside the pedestrian city center, close to restaurants and shops.

Pros: location, design, price
Cons: dull atmosphere (very personal feeling)

Room Tip: Rooms on the back are quiet (and maybe cheaper) , but they have a wall facing the window

Other than the fact that they fined me 50 RMB for a magnetic key as a replacement since I lost the original, it was a nice experience.
Clean room, super wifi, excellent location, Discount tickets to the Impression sanjie liu with free transfers, free upgrade of the room, complimentary mineral water.
It is recommended for sure but I would like to say that had they been a little kind for the first lost key I would have appreciated it more.
Anyways good work.. Thanks.

This hotel was quite nice, clean, great location, and wonderful staff. It was what appeared on the outside as an older establishment, but the room was up to date for 2015. I would say that the people who gave it bad reviews in the past (and I read those OLD reviews) and they're a bunch of stuck ups. Some of the surrounding buildings may be dated, but not the rooms in this place. The saff were absolutely wonderful and friendly, and spoke very well English. This place isn't perfect, they do unfortunately allow loud and abnoxious guests, but nothing they can control.

I would say that this hotel is more for a single person, or a coulple, the room I had would not really accommidate a family, but didn't see other rooms. It has more of a intimate feeling to it and is cozy. The bed was very large in my room, it was two full or queen size put together. The bathroom was large to boot as well.

Room Tip: maybe avoid rooms on very front
