Stayed two nights. Temperature was preset at a comfortable level upon room entry. Staff were kind and helpful. The breakfast was good with a nice selection of a variety of hot and cold options. Good location with quick access to Interstate 459 and The Summit shopping center. Excellent room price point. I did not use the pool or workout areas. Housekeeping/maintenance was below average (hairs, 2, left in bathroom, dust accumulation, old stains on carpet in room and hallways, small holes in bedding).

We stayed at this location while passing through Birmingham and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The beds are very comfortable and the room was very clean. We encountered no problems at all with this venue and would definitely stay there again.

Booked 2 rooms and both were so dirty(stains on carpet, dried blood on mattress, dried toothpaste on faucet, red sticking stuff on counter tops) that we requested new rooms. The first new room they showed us had a yellow stain on the mattress when they pulled out the sofa bed. assistant GM was able eventually able to find 2 acceptable rooms.

Room Tip: Inspect the room before you unpack.

Stayed here for a week while visiting some friends. The staff was very kind and always willing to help. I don't remember the managers name but he was always asking how things were going. The pool was small but nice. Everyone there made me feel welcome.

we were in town for a wedding shower luau for some friends getting married. we were staying just the one night. i requested a king room that was on the non interstate side. we got in and we were greeted nicely even though they were really busy with a large group checking in. I was granted the room away from the interstate on the 4th floor. The 1st issue experienced was when we got to our room the room had an off smoke smell. I called to see if they had put us in a smoking room. The front desk told us all rooms were non smoking and that they would check in to it. We just sprayed some febreeze we had and went about our business getting ready for the party we were going to. Then we found the culprit. apparently either the former microwave no longer present or the coffee maker had been burnt and left in the cabinet above the sink. as soon as we opened the cabinet that burnt smoke smell overtook the room. we sprayed more spray. i should have asked to hotel desk to come clean the cabinet out but we were in a hurry to get to the party at that point. it wasn't a big enough problem to ask for a new room only staying one night. we didn't notice it as much in the bedroom area of the room just on the living room side. it was very strong at the door. no one from front desk ever got back with us to check on the smoke smell. i was disappointed in that since it can be a health hazard or who know where the smoke could have been coming from. i was also disappointed being a Marriott rewards member that they just didn't offer a new room right off the bat of someone saying that their brand new freshly cleaned room smelled like smoke when they walked in. The shower and bathroom area was nice and the bed was comfortable. we didn't use the living room area. we weren't there long enough, and the set up was a bit strange in the design. The smoke smell was also a lot more noticeable and uncomfortable in that area. The other issue is the curtains in the room. the heavy curtains to block out light were only for show. They wouldn't close. So, all we had were the little white almost transparent currents that allowed light to beam from the parking lot into the room all night. It also did not allow for as much privacy. I would recommend the hotel add real thick curtains that close all the way behind the light curtains. i thought that was pretty common in most hotels. the last thing was the a/c unit rattled a lot. luckily it didn't keep me up too long. Usually in a longer stay i would have mentioned more of these things to the front desk and ask for a different room. It served it's purpose for one night;however, i don't think it should classify as 3 point hotel in the Marriott System on points. They should pay a little closer attention to maintenance and to cleaning of the rooms with the burnt coffee maker and rattling ac unit. I have a feeling should i being staying in the area again I will opt for the Courtyard next door or the other Marriott down the road if not the hampton inn. There are plenty of other options. I chose this hotel because of the reviews compared to some other properties. Hopefully this will assist some others. pros: easy to interstate, summitt, eating areas, comfortable bed and shower. cons: maintenance of room, cleanliness of room, staff didn't check back in with me after I initially called about the issue.
