Description: The Bakery88, founded by Karine Kaffrell, is a German style bakery and restaurant located in the old town of Dali in Yunnan, China. For 10 years we have been continuously striving to retain our quality and include local and organic ingredients in our baking and cooking whenever possible. Everyday we offer freshly baked breads, cakes, and homemade ice cream, containing no artificial chemicals or preservatives. We also offer a good variety of European food and drinks.

We needed a break from Chinese food and stumbled upon this place! The atmosphere is lovely and the food was great! We ordered a salami sandwich and German brats. The sandwich was open face and the portion was a bit small but the price made us assume that would be the case. The German brats were amazing and comes with sauerkraut. We got a cheesecake at the end which was pretty good for China, can't compare that to the USA. Overall great experience and they speak English!

The cheese board is absolutely amazing! Tasty, fresh with so many different cheeses!
We also enjoyed some cream cheese and bacon bagels in this incredible cafe in the heart of old Dali City.
Recommended for lunch, breakfast and brunch!

Terrific breads available here baked on site. Good western style breakfasts along with other options such as sandwiches. Staff are lovely and fluent in English. The Yunnanese coffee is OK but give this place a swerve if you want a latte or cappuccino. There are plenty of other cafes in Dali that have better coffee (ie from an espresso machine)

Great breakfast and coffee spot. We went 2 mornings in a row. Service is great, space is airy and bright. Especially good if you drink coffee and don't want to wait till 10:30am for the other coffee shops to open :)

Bakery 88 has a sizable menu of baked goods and other foods that expats rarely find in China. It's surprising to find it in Dali, because it could give stiff competition to bakeries in major Chinese cities. My friends enjoyed their cheesecake, cheese platter and sandwiches. I was impressed by their foresight when I ordered a baba ganoush sandwich and was told they would pack the eggplant purée separately from the bread so that it wouldn't get soggy. I don't even expect that level of service back home!
