Description: The Bakery88, founded by Karine Kaffrell, is a German style bakery and restaurant located in the old town of Dali in Yunnan, China. For 10 years we have been continuously striving to retain our quality and include local and organic ingredients in our baking and cooking whenever possible. Everyday we offer freshly baked breads, cakes, and homemade ice cream, containing no artificial chemicals or preservatives. We also offer a good variety of European food and drinks.

Atmosphere and decor are very nice, but the staff was not warm, helpful. The quality of bread, marmalade, coffee and egg was very good! Only the fact that they serve 2 small slices of bread for breakfast menu is not acceptable for the price.

We were yearning for a Western breakfast with bread & cheese & eggs & bacon. The yummy & hearty breakfast were very good. Tea is included in the price.

We had breakfast here and found the food delicious and simple. We had the goat cheese and tomato and the salmon cream cheese bagel No crazy seasoning or grease (after many days of Chinese travel). The menu has many options. You can even watch them preparing some of the pastries on the second floor. Went back for lunch to have some of the pastries (apple pie and strudel, which were okay).

I can't stay with out breakfast, so I have been in this restaurant 5 consecutive morning and the word to describe my breakfast time there is delicious. Bread is fantastic the home made jam, too. Went there also for a lunch and dinner and can't complain either. Just go and have a try.

Best bread I have tasted on my travels in China. Highly recommend this place. Went for breakfast both days I was in Dali. Can have porridge, fresh bread with jams, or a hearty breakfast pictured here.
