I have lived in Koh Lanta for four years now, and Mary Ann's is still one of my favourite bars on Koh Lanta. Its located within the main town of Saladan, near the junction of the road to the ferry pier.
Ok, so it has not got booming music, people dancing all night, and a never ending list of extravagant cocktails. On an island that has many of these though, this quaint little British style pub (bar) is a welcome respite. A place where expats and tourists alike, come to hang out and chat with each other and also with the quintessential pub landlord.
Aiden can always be recognised as he is most likely the first person you will see when you arrive. Pearched on his stool by the bar with his own personal fan, he is always on hand to welcome you with a smile. A great guy always available for a chat, he always reminds me of the "local" pub landlords in my hometown back in the UK.
Offering great Thai food, or good old fashioned pub grub if your feeling all riced out, it is all cooked up by his equally friendly and welcoming partner Sal.
In closing, if your looking for great food, great hospitality, or just some wear to relax and chat, look no further than Mary Ann's.
