We stayed at twin lotus for 8 days in december 2017.
While the villas were ok, the whole rest of the resort is not on 4 star level and feels like a two star experience.
Everything looks very old and worn out.
In the middle of the resort you have a dirty river that smells annoyingly.
The whole resort offers 8 - in words eight -sunshades for at least hundred rooms.
On the beach you dont have any sunshades.
Breakfast location is not nice and also very worn out plus you will have birds on your food.
Wifi is not really working well neither.
All that for 200 euros plus a day left us speechless.
General manager played friendly but if adressed with any problem or complaint turned unfriendly.
Summarized we have to say that we travel lots and cannot remember one single worse value for money experience.

Dear hannes-meinhardts

Thank you so very much for your review of your stay at Twin Lotus Resort.

Please read assured that all feedback is reviewed carefully,

When I speak to you, you only complain about the landscaping to me and wanted discount and I told you, you need to go back to the one you have booked the resort from and make the complain for we can not give you the discount directly,

Regards to the sun umbrellas, by law we can not put sun umbrellas on the beach but we have lot of trees there what making the shade.

We were at Ko Lanta during off peak season so the hotel was rather empty. The property itself is gorgeous. The food was great. Good variation at breakfast. Nice view of the sunset from the infinity pool. A number of restaurants if you walk along the beach. There's a local market around 2 km away, the tuk tuk driver will be more than happy to bring you there for a small fee.

The service at this hotel is impeccable from the beginning to the end. It’s absolutely obvious that the people here love their job and that management is doing an absolute great effort into making your stay a pleasure. The awareness starts with the fact that everyone say hello to you, looking you in the eyes.

The amenities; the garden pool is absolutely sexy. It’s dark in its decor and when we were there, it was almost always empty. Perfect for a swim. The infinity pool by the beach is also absolutely lush and does have enough chairs for all guests. (But as always at all places around the world, there are less considerate people who occupies the chairs all day with their towels). We had a drink at the bar when watching the sunset and it was also great.

The rooms; we stayed in a garden room with the most comfortable beds I have slept in the past four months of traveling. Heaven! I believe that the garden rooms are the cheapest so I can only imagine how great the other rooms are!

The breakfast is without competition the best breakfast I’ve had in months. They have many choices of cheese that made me absolutely delighted. (Good cheese isn’t something that you will find in Asia.)

Back to the service. We had an incident that is 100% NOT at all related to the hotel but they fixed it anyway for us. What happened is that when we checked out we had to go and leave our motorbike and from there we booked a shared van that was supposed to take us to Krabi town. It was first of all late, then we were asked to take a bus (!) to the minivan that was parked in the middle of the island. Well in the van, we were placed in the back where they had jammed two more seats instead of luggage storage. There we are, being told that we had three hours to the airport (where we were not going) with other people’s luggage in our laps and no space for our legs. When stopping by to get more passengers (!) at our lovely Twin Lotus that we just left, then I panicked and me and my husband asked to be dropped there. Other people in the car also panicked because they had luggage everywhere that with the slightest stop could do serious harm or kill someone.

Long story long... When resentfully being dropped off the most lovely general manager come to us and ask us what happened. Within minutes he organised so that we an hour later could have a free transfer to Krabi on the cost of the hotel. He also filed a complaint to the company. Had a cold drink in our hands and accepted an eternally grateful hug. I’m so thankful to the whole staff for how they handled the situation. And the transfer to Krabi was a true pleasure and again so professional. And just that is what shines through the whole hotel: professionalism and kindness. Thank you again for being stars! I highly recommend this hotel if you are in Ko Lanta.

I stayed here for a few days. An excellent hotel, but my advice if you are in a poolside room is that some guests sat by the pool one night and their conversation could be heard by every one of the occupants of those rooms. Fair enough if it's during the day, but at 2am that's not on. One swift bollocking later and they curtailed their conversation. This however was the only downside to my stay.

We always choose our hotels based on location, reviews and if it's adults only. Twin Lotus ticks all those boxes.
Check in was very swift and we were quickly taken to our room. We had only booked a basic room as we only wanted somewhere to sleep so it was fine, apart from it did have a door connecting to the next room, so I assume this was used before it was an adults only resort. The downside of this is that it means you can hear people next to you and for the entire 10 days we had a couple who just spent the whole night coughing constantly, so that was a little frustrating. Although there are a couple of pools, most people use the beach pool as it has the best views and more importantly the most umbrellas. Oddly the garden pool only has one umbrella so everyone else has no protection from the sun. The umbrellas around the beach pool are very small, so you do end up having to reposition it throughout the day to try and find some shade, which is quite frustrating. You also need to "claim your seats" before 9am otherwise you end up on the beach (with no shade in the afternoon) or around the garden pool (with no shade).

The food and drink were a lot more expensive than all the other bars and restaurants within a 5 min walk so it was a no brainer what do to for lunch, sun-downers and the evening meal. The one evening we thought we would make use of the Happy Hour which was buy 1 get 1 free on all cocktails, we made the mistake of choosing the 'cocktail of the month', which even though it was buy 1 get 1 free on all cocktails this one was not included.

Breakfast was fine, but that was about it. Perhaps we've been spoilt in the past by going to beach resorts which have a 'hot dish' menu so you can order your pancakes and waffles hot instead of them being soft and cold having being made in bulk and then left on the table for people to pick from. Was slightly put off the bacon one morning when I say the staff fill up the bacon plate and then put throw back in the bacon that had been left of the side, probably because it had been dropped on the floor, which was also covered in flies and been pecked at by birds.

All in a all it was a relaxing stay and amazing that there were no kids there too, but just feel the resort could benefit from a number of small changes which could make the place much better.
