First of all the place is advertised on Booking.com as “Chunut House Resort” with cooking facilities available and deluxe bungalows.

As a place is not terrible but the whole experience was mediocre to bad.

- first of all we were given a different room than the one booked. After arguing at the reception they gave 3 options of different rooms to choose. Again nothing to do with the pictures.
- bathroom was smelling of condensation really bad. The mirror was dirty.
- the shower gel was not renewed during our stay.

Basic the place is like a hostel with private rooms.

Oh! No kitchen facilities and no breakfast at all in the premises.

On your way to the hotel you are passing by the water treatment facility and the smell, believe me, it contributes to the experience.

The only good thing is the young man than gave us a hand with our luggage.

May it should be called “chunut house -the last- resort”

We visited Phi Phi in November 2017 for a short two day trip and stayed the second night in Chunut house.

After staying for one night right in the center of the village we decided to upgrade for the second night at Phi Phi to Chunut house. The place was exactly what were looking for and we were very happy.

Service was very good , the rooms had free wifi and they were clean.
Rooms were comfortable , clean and airconditioned. Room had a minibar which had a complementary bottles of water. I've spent nights in hotels which are way better than our own place in Finland and in hotels where you don't want to spend any more time than you really have to. I think that is a criteria for a good hotel for me : Wherther you want to spend time in the hotel room or not. Chunut house was one of those places, where I felt comfortable spending time : rooms and the terrace.

The toilet was clean but a little bit more worn down than the rest of the room. I'm not sure if it was just our room but it did not have warm water. Didn't really bother as with the heat, we didn't really miss for a warm shower.

This hotel is in my experience in the mid range and well worth the money. It's not luxurious, not in the low end, but in the strongest mid range of places to stay.
The location was very good. It is located so that it has a short walk to the main beaches and a short walk to the center of the village. There is some small shops close by and you can get your immediate needs for water, snacks and beer covered easily.

The hotel is a set of multiple bungalow style cottages, which looked like they were built in different eras - some looked to be older, some were brand new. Our cottage was the older sort.

If we would've stayed at Phi phi for a longer duration I would've chosen Chunut house for a longer stay.

The athosphere of the place with the "jungle like" surroundings , sounds of the forest after rain, having my morning coffee at the terrace the bungalow with a cat that wondered to the hotel - all of this is something I write down to my memories as new and exciting experiences from this trip.

Great location for snorkeling. We appreciated that there are no cars and almost no motorbikes on the island. There are noisy places just as well as quiet ones. We enjoyed Chunut guesthouse because it was placed far enough from the noise but close enough to grab a brochette or have a drink at midnight with my husband when kids were asleep. Bathroom was clean and spacey, beds comfy, staff extra helpfull. Wut - the owner - arrange pick-up from the pier so we didn't have to carry our babpacks. Kids had fun riding on the top of our stuff carried by a man from the hotel :-) Our son (5 yrs old) wandered off in the first hours on the island and Wut was very helpful in finding him. Great experience overall.

'Welcomed' by the receptionist who seemed more interested in selling tours than welcoming us to his hotel. Our room did not have a safe and there was a note we could leave stuff at the reception. Not convenient as there is nobody around before 7.30 am and we needed to be at our diving course at 7am. After asking for a room move he decided he could just take out a safe from a different room. As they were not fully occupied we still don't know why they wouldn't give us a room without issues. The next time we spoke to the receptionist he seemed upset that we did not book our tour with his friend. We checked out and went to JJ Bungalow which is comparable but better value for money.

Phi phi is very noisy at nights and only a few places, where you can sleep soundly. This is one of them, except a gecko on our roof Nice and clean bungalows and good service at the reception. Looked beautiful and tropical around the bungalows.
