“Needed an overall refurbishment”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

Check-in to sea view chalet of this hotel last weekend for 1 night stay with family members. My first disappointment was encountered the malfunction of air-con for the living and 2nd room. However, the loss could be offset by having the windows open wide through the night to allow the wind from the sea to blow in and had the cooling effect of atmosphere inside the chalet.

2nd disappointment was the buffet dinner food taste was not up to mark and not much varieties but overall staff service and courtesy was way good. I was sincerely in the opinion that this hotel needed a serious overall refurbishment in order to maintain its 5 star rating to attract new walk-in as well as repetitive customers.

Room Tip: choose the chalet with sea view

We tried thistle port dickson and this hotel. This hotel is much much better. We had room 222 for a night and the view was good. The room was fantastic with separate bathroom from bedroom with bathtub. We went for the beach once we arrived. It was Low tide in afternoon, and high tide at night. So we saw lots of little crabs spreading across entire stretch of the beach. It was amazing! Just that we should have applied more sunblock and insect repellent before heading out. I'd 7 mosquito bites on right and 3 on left. Parking was initially challenging with their very small parking lots till we managed to find the ones nearer hotel itself. Finding food nearby is also easy, driving out get food was much easier.

We stayed at beach room, 5th floor, as we really want the view of beach and have access to Riau Beach.

Very nice and cosy. Big windows overlooking the beach and the sea added to the serene atmosphere. We felt so relax.

There were 3 of us and since the room has a day bed, it is not a problem for us to have our own bed to sleep.

Cleanliness - could do better but that is if you are an OCD like me. Otherwise, it is clean enough.

The building is exactly in just few steps from the white sandy beach so it really is a spot on for beach lovers like us.

FOOD - breakfast
A good spread. But I was quite surprised that they did not serve nasi lemak, being Malaysia that is. Almost all hotels and resorts that I have been to in Malaysia will definitely have nasi lemak in their spread. Though am not nasi lemak eater if staying in a hotel or resort, I felt quite dissappointed ... for some reason .

The resort itself is very impressively beautiful, with its decorations and art gallery. Few decks overlooking the sea are available as we walk to the far end of the resort to our building.

Water chalets looks okay but I do not really fancy them. They have own deck/balcony but not enough privacy.

They have feeding farm that let guests to feed smal animals like rabbit, pigeons, tortoise abd few others. Good for those with kids. They also have own gardens that we could explore (we did not explore though since it was raining most of the time).

Will definitely come again very soon and maybe next time will be a bit longer. We need to try the spa and the sauna.

All in all...a good short retreat at this resort/hotel. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: If you like the view of beach, take the beach room upper level. All beach rooms have outstanding bea...

Was contemplating either for a visit to the seaside or nature.heard avillion pd provided both . went there with moderate expectations
Arrived early around 1pm.luckily we are able to check in without much hassle.that is a definitely a plus point

1.We booked water chalet.greeted with great sea view . However what's dissapointing was at low tide lots of rubbish can be seen trapped at the seashore and that's really spoiled the view. Hope the management can mantain the cleanliness as it is in the avillion's compound

2.breakfast is a dissapointment.we had to go to the ballroom as the main place was full.it was at level4.u had to climb 1flight of stairs from 3rd floor as the elevator stops at 3rd floor.me being 8th months pregnant with 3kiddos found that was quite unacceptable .limited breakfast choice,no toaster only nonfunctional oven to toast the bread?i put the bread in there fr 5 mins it was not even warm.i really hope if u were to prepare 2 places fr breakfast make sure it gonna be fair

3.dirty toilet near the pool area.unacceptable at a 4 stars accommodation

Good points
1.love love love the shower and the water pressure

2.pet farms and the friendly zookeeper

3.separate pool fr adults and kids

4.lots of greenery thus lots of shades

5.gamelan playing traditional music

Aavillion has lots of things to love.but with poor maintenance and management they will deteriorate and wasted.

Compare to my last trip, the room are not well maintain to the standard. Is time to refurbish if the hotel need to maintain it's 5 stars. Rooms condition- spider web at fused lamp, sandy flooring , black ants around basin, lizard at bathroom, fridge n mugs with stain, kettle with rust and toilet flush system horrible.
Talked to the housekeeper personally at 7.30pm to change the fused bulb and the maintenance guy did not turn up till the next day I check out.
The most disappointing is the waiter told me the Village restaurant is a non-smoking area but then I saw the a staff (should be executive) is smoking there with his colleagues which I check with the waiter.
