My friends and I supposed to visit before MCO and finally got to visit it now. Reading many super bad reviews here truly made me worry but still, we have to face it right.
Honesty, it’s quite pricey compare to the room rate to what you will get staying during this time. The room was nice, spacious and at a good spot facing the beach. Grateful to have that. Nothing to pick except the spoilt fridge which is not cooling at all. We didn’t complaint about it because it’s okay. If to pick something, I felt the lack of sensitivity for a triple sharing room. If our room is meant for 3 person, the room attendant should feel sensitive enough to provide all amenities for 3 person. Except 3 bath towels, nothing else they remember this is a 3 person room. No floor mat, no hand towel till need to ask for it. No drinking water is prepared in the room but there are water dispensers everywhere for you to get clean waters, but you are being provided only a little jug if you want to fill the water for your room. Probably not even 800ml. Luckily we brought our own water bottles.
We were given good spot of room. Few steps away can reach the beach. The location of this resort is very good, very nice scenery. Two magnificent mountains behind the resort, facing wide sea. The whole resort is clean, inclusive the beach and every corner. Well done. The shades by the beach is good for you to rest under the trees.
Restaurant and F&B. Only one restaurant. The menu served is rather expensive for what you get. Selection is quite limited, at some time you may be told this and this and that and that not available. Delicious? Very basic. The manning is enough for the crowd, not as what other review writer mentioned in July 2020.
The staffs, all are friendly and helpful. They are Smily and ready to help. I didn’t feel the kind of stress of short manning in their face at all.
WiFi. There is very very limited coverage of free WiFi. Limited till none. But you can buy at the reception, Rm14 for 1GB, good enough for non heavy user. It will cut off easily and you need to connect it again and again with typing the long password while you are using it. I didn’t think I was able to use that 1GB.
The nightmare or daymare is the journey go and back from Mersing Jetty. As usual, the waiting and the crowd at the Mersing Jetty is aways sickening. The journey going, the jetty was very busy. The ferry was late, have to stand and wait. Luckily we still have the seats. The journey to the island, you will need to transit at the Genting Jetty. There was no proper signage and direction for the Tunamaya guests, we walked to land already thinking there must be someone expecting us. Luckily there was friendly uncle told us to go back the sea and show us the green Tunamaya boat. So advise to future guests who reading this, no need to walk to land when you get down from big ferry, you just wait and look around the green Tunamaya boat. They don’t seems knowing who is coming as well, be sure you hop in first because I believe they will not wait for anyone or you will miss out and need to wait the next in schedule. I found out that we were not being asked to scan and check in MySejahtera at all when we arrived.
The arrival journey is tiring enough, wait till I tell you the departure journey back to Mersing Jetty. The resort will send you 2 hours before the time stated for big ferry at Genting. The journey from Tunamaya to Genting is not even 25 mins, which means that you will be easily 1.5 hours ahead of the schedule for big ferry. Well, ferry arrival delay is normal, so you will easily be ahead of schedule 2 hours. Make sure you fill something for yourself. I believe the resort can do something to reduce the waiting time for a Tunamaya guests la. Both way journey was very tiring.
That’s all my review and sorry for no photo upload because I didn’t find anything nice for me to take photo though.
