If you a looking for a unique experience and place to stay then this is for you! There are long waiting lists - we had to wait 7 months - because it is so popular, but apart from the weather everything was great.
We were picked up and driven to the departure point. They could have offered us a drink whilst we waited as it was an hour before we left. The boat was comfortable, despite the heavy rain. A canopy that covered the top and sides mean that we didn't get too wet. We were greeted with fresh towels and a cold drink, and then each travel group was personally welcomed and given an introduction to the resort. We were all told the rules and what we could expect.
We were only snorkelling, but the dive house is the best set up I've seen. It is spacious and includes drinks and snacks for those returning between dives or swims. You can even get a fresh towel. We were impressed with the variety of marine life and enjoyed each snorkel. The currents were strong, but they had plenty of rescue rings if needed. I found it easier to snorkel in the morning when the currents weren't as strong.
Our cabin over the water was beautiful. We could see tutles swimming along ouside. The beds were comfortable and the room huge. The bathroom was lovely with a bath and shower. Our cabin over the water was beautiful. We could see tutles swimming along ouside. The beds were comfortable and the room huge. The bathroom was lovely with a bath and shower. Each cabin had a balcony looking over the water with 2 deckchairs. There were plenty of windows to open and let the breeze cool the room down.
The food was fabulous with plenty of choice, even for vegetarians. I particularly enjoyed the salads as these can be hard to get in other places in Sabah. Saturday night was BBQ night and there was a great selection of various meat and seafood being BBQ'd. Whilst other people have found that certain people are pushy and not good at queuing, we found waiting for 10 minutes for the intial rush was enough time to wait before getting our food. Food was plentiful and there was no danger of running out. The bar had a good selection of wine and beer for those wanting a drink.
Apart from snorkelling, kayakking and diving, other things you can do include relaxing in hammocks, turtle watching, play games in games room, watch films in the TV room or read. We enjoyed walking around as well - you do have to walk quite a lot to get to places e.g. to the fake island, the green bridge. All around the resort there are trees, shrubs and flowers.
Overall, we had a great trip (2 nights, 3 days). The staff were very helpful and friendly. I wouldn't advise this as a place for families, especially with small children. I will definitely be coming back!More
