I stayed at the Borneo Nature Lodge for 2 nights as part of a 3 day trip - a fabulous place with warm and welcoming staff. They catered fully for my vegetarian needs, and I left a lot heavier than I arrived! (Amazing homemade cakes in the afternoon!).

The room had both a fan and air con - which was a life saver! It was clean and catered for all my needs. The lodge was peaceful, with so many butterflies, birds and other wildlife, but was very easy to completely chill out.

Our boat driver could sense, (and smell!) when the elephants were present, and was particularly cognoscente of when I wanted to take photos, allowing me to spend more time at certain places. He even enticed a juvenile Pygmy elephant to come to our boat by playing a game! The trip was packed full of nature / wildlife that I had wanted to see, including the elusive orangutan (x 2!) and proboscis monkeys. Lots of fun and a truly memorable experience.

I Stayed at the Borneo Nature Lodge as part of a 3 day 2 night package. The rooms are very pleasant and exactly what you should expect from a nature lodge. I personally found the food delicious, generous portions and the staff extremely welcoming and helpful, Walter and his team do a great job.
The river safari’s are outstanding, I had an extremely knowledgable guide (kurt) who clearly had a passion for animal conservation and improving their habitat. Very lucky to see an Orangutan and her baby in the wild, along with proboscis monkeys, macaques, silver leaf, crocodiles and hornbills. The only thing I didn’t see was a Pygmy Elephant, but this is real nature and you won’t see everything. The river is quiet as the tours are not fully back running post pandemic so this may impact future visitors as numbers increase.
Do bring your own water bottle so you can refill and help reduce plastic waste, the constant supply of Sabah tea is also very good.
Insect repellent a must, you are in nature, although the staff do everything to keep the mosquitoes at bay naturally, make sure to keep doors closed.
A fantastic lodge that is very well run and genuinely cares about nature and protecting it. So glad I was recommended to stay here

We had three nights here as part of our package, the rooms are very basic yet comfortable, food was fine, service was excellent. There is a water cooler in the main restaurant to enable you to fill your water bottles.
The main reason for your visit here is to see the flora & fauna along the banks of the Kinabatangan river by boat. We were lucky enough to have a boat pretty much to ourselves and our guide for the first day, then we were joined by another couple who unfortunately didn't speak English and they shared our guide.
Cruising up and down the river and tributaries you get to see a huge amount of wildlife. We were lucky enough to see a lone Pygmy Elephant on the bank, apparently the heard had gone through several days earlier. The guides and boat drivers are very good at spotting and do their utmost to ensure that you have a pleasurable stay. We very much enjoyed our stay & seeing the extensive array of wildlife from crocodiles to hornbills to orangutang & many more, the king fishers are exquisite.
Be sure to bring walking boots and a good bug spray.

This is a beautiful jungle lodge accessible only by boat. We stayed 2 nights. Room was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. They even had sarongs for us to wear. Pleasant verandah out front to sit and watch monkeys, have your coffee. The AC exhaust fuels the hot water, quite ingenious. We did an evening and morning cruise, saw lots of wildlife including many bird species: hornbills, eagles, an owl, pigeon species, storks, sun-birds, bee-eaters, dollar birds and others. The guides were very adept at spotting animals. We also saw a monitor lizard, many proboscis monkeys, macaques, and even a flying lemur. Only minus about the place was the food. It is terrible. I told the boy three times that I am vegetarian and he kept bringing out plates of squid and ham. Vegetables were bland but fruit was good. I recommend bringing snacks. Also if possible rubber boots and insect repellent for the forest walk, though they did happen to have boots my size.

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our Borneo Tour, and had the most amazing experience. We were right on the river, in the middle of the jungle, and had 3 river cruises to see wildlife. We managed all typed of monkeys, two orangutans in the wild and a herd of pygmy elephants, top stay.
