Stay for 4D3N on business in Nov '11

Pros:
1) Friendly staff.
2) Comfortable rooms.
3) Well maintained swimming pool.

Cons:
1) Check-in takes longer than expected. More paperwork than usual.
2) Chalet room located bit far from main building. But it let you experience the beautiful landscape.
3) Restaurant manager should learn from humble 4* hotel, LeM at KK on how to serve impressive breakfast. Initially, I was expecting better than what I have in KK.
4) No free WiFi? I'm not expecting this from non-business hotel. Noticed that it's free upon membership. So, why don't promote instant registration to let your guest enjoy free Wifi and at the same time become registered member.
5) The resort has with beach but not sea.
6) Chalet ground floor has no carpet. Upper floor is furnished with it.

Room Tip: There are chalet rooms that let guest view the sea. Please ask the reception.

Dear Mohd_Rafi,

First of all, we would like to say BIG THANK YOU for staying at Miri Marriott Resort & Spa. Now that we have registered and autheticated Miri Marriott Resort & Spa's TripAdvisor page to allow us to interact with our reviewers on TripAdvisor.

We apologise for the shortcomings during your last trip but nevertherless we are doing everything to improve on it order to give our guests the best at all times.

We have recently upgraded our internet connection speed and the Free Internet connection for Marriott Rewards memebrs (rolled out by Marriott Worldwide last year) is still available.

Unfortunately, our "Once Upon A Time" beautiful beach infront of the hotel has washed out completely after the diversion of Miri River mouth and the construction of the Marina Bay.

We look forward to be at your servcie again.

Thank You.

Wow, what a fantasic stay....rooms are of a 5 star standard, food is excellent catering asian and inernational tastes. I had buffet breakfast, pool food and a la carte, all deicious!! For authentic (and much cheaper) but still very delicious food, pop over the road to the chinese, so not be put off by yhe garden chairs, meal for 4 +drinks was under 20ringett!!

The marriott pools are fabulas...though not lifeguarded at all, open until late at night, but beware sandflies and mosquitos!!! Wear repellent containing deet.

Very close to airport...take a walk down the road back towards airort for local fiah restaurants and childrens lay park.

A fantastic stay, would definitely return!!!

Stayed for a night. Booked the Ocean View Room. Great spacious rooms, with 2 TVs and 2 toilets! A living room space and 2 balconies! The pool is one of the best I've ever seen in any hotel. Its extremely huge and it does not has any extremely deep ends which will be dangerous for new swimmers like me. The staff are really friendly as well.

Overall it is definitely a 5-star hotel.

Only disappointing fact about the hotel was that they had scaffolding all over one of our balconies, which I find was pretty dangerous. I was also disappointed that we weren't informed beforehand that our rooms will be affected by the ongoing renovations. Complaint to management, but was offered a downgrade!

I visit Miri every month on business and until a couple of years back, had stayed in many of the other hotels in Miri. The Miri Marriott Resort is my choice since then and personally, I find this hotel better than the rest.

The rooms are hugh and clean. The bed is comfortable and as with all Marriott Hotels, I liked most is the bed. Amenities in the room is adequate though the bathroom is a bit dated in design. Definitely not 5 stars grade.

The hotel is well maintained and have a nice swimming pool. The Mandara Spa is worth a visit and the massage rooms are cosy and have a nice ambience. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for.

I usually avoid eating in the coffee house as the food is not only pricey but pretty average quality wise. There are better dining options in Miri.

The staff are usually polite, eager to serve but one gets the impression that they lack proper training in their jobs. Checking in might take longer than usual if you are unlucky to get an inexperienced staff. Aside from this minor hiccup, I would say they are the nicest people (besides the Thais) as compared to other hotels in Miri.

My stay in the Miri Marriott is alway enjoyable and pleasant. I usually rent a car at the airport (RM142/day from Hertz) and it is the best way to get around as taxis and busues are not visible usually. The distance to town is about 5 mins by car.

Marriott provides free internet to Rewards members and you can sign up at the check in counter to have your internet charges waived. Otherwise, it costs RM60 per day. This hotel does not have club rooms nor executve lounge.

Room Tip: Beware of mosquitoes. Rooms closed to the pool can be noisy. I prefer the Garden view as the room ar...
