Spent 5 nights at Bubu Resort, all the staff was really great. The F&B and resort reception staff in particular were excellent. The Resort seemed fully booked every night and the staff did seem a bit stretched at times but overall they were superb. The construction rubble at the back of the rooms was not the standard we expected, very disappointing actually. Room 209 (no sea view) was small but very clean and comfortable, all the guest supplies needed was provided, tons of plug points, enough luggage space and nice shower. F&B overall was acceptable, breakfast adequate but not elaborate. Coffee / Lattes in the mornings was world class. Free cocktail in the afternoon was a nice touch.
Overall we felt Bubu resort was too close to the jetty which therefor allowed for a lot of traffic past the resort - we preferred to chill at Bubu Villa on the other side of the island on a few days (Bubu allows for this and can charge to your room at the resort). Much quieter and more relaxed atmosphere - F&B more expensive at the Villa and we were not convinced it’s any better than the resort. Recommend to try some of the local food on the beach. ABC cafe has nice Roti Canai and Panorama Divers has good pizzas and pasta in the evening.
The diving with Turtle Bay Divers was excellent - highly recommend them. Quality of the dive sights also great with excellent viz on all the sites, very professional instructors with good focus on safety. Long beach however seems to of lost a bit of its charm over the years and with the new jetty seems to have become a mass market destination for local foodies. Just so many boats parked all along long beach with these dangerous looking anchors on the beach. It sometimes felt more like a nice fishing village than a beach destination. I do wonder whether it’s perhaps better next time to stay at one of the quieter resorts at one of the other Perhentian Islands and catching the cheap ferry to long beach for diving or possibly one or two meals.

Bubu Ferry was great. Private, lots of sun cover and the staff take care of your luggage. Unfortunately the parking experience was a disaster. The independent parking contractor helped to park my car under cover but the entire car inside and out got infested by Ants. Was quite a mission to totally resolve the ant infestation problem. The great staff at the reception we very concerned and did tell me that they have never seen this before - seems I was just unlucky. The parking contractor mysteriously also disappeared and never faced the music....

Not yet sure but possibly return again, but will only stay at Bubu Villa to avoid the crowds / people and boat traffic.

One of the better options on Long Beach. Had a family room, and that was great for a young family of 4. F&B service had some challenges when busy, but there's a pretty good breakfast. With real coffee. The daily complimentary cocktails were a highlight, so I hope they keep that. The food menu though was overpriced but that was across the board in the Perhentian Islands. Probably the cost of bringing food over from the mainland. Beer price was ok though.

Room tip: Family rooms with 2 queen size beds can accommodate young families.

Lovely room, great amenities, nice beach etc. Yeah, we had an amazing and unforgettable stay. But another thing about this place that deserves an award is the people. From office HQ to jetty and hotel staff, they were very friendly and accommodating. And oh, the food's fantastic, too -- especially the BBQ!

We had a couple of nights stay in bubu with family and friends. Firstly, we were given the impression the villas were in the same vicinity as the rooms, we wanted to stay in the villas therefor agreed to the over 1200rm charge per night but were then told we couldnt stay in the villa as we had one extra child and the villas were not able to accommodate 2 children. Bubu then recommended we stayed at their only other room thst would have 2 double beds. When we arrived, we not only realised the villas and the rooms were divided by other resorts but that our accomodations were a tiny little room w 2 double beds. The beach in front of them was lined with boats and they then tell us only a couple of metres were pte and past that reaching the waters were public property and that we cannot leave out things as anyone has the right to take them.. That was appalling, for such a price. We ended up taking boats out practically daily during the day to tuna maya to enjoy the private beach! One good thing though was that bubu's stretch is much more lively in the evenings with various places you can go to for a cocktail or 2..

I must say though having tried most of the food in both perhentian islands, the food at Bubu is the best! Unfortunately the service system is appalling. Several times our order was sent to the wrong table or simply forgotten. Once our 10 yr old ordered steak and nearly 2 hrs later they came back to say there's no more steak available. After much stink from us parents the steak materialised within seconds. We also encountered an issue with our drinks order during cocktail hour, my friend who ordered 30mins before never got her drink while another friend who just ordered had hers within 30seconds. The excuse was one friend had ordered from the waiter whole the other ordered directly to the bartender.. Shouldnt there be a system in placed? Or is it a case of which customer you prefer to serve? I found the excuse ridiculous.

Another ridiculous situation happened when at dinner time they tried to get me to pay for a breakfast drinks consumption which i calmly said i will check with my hubby first, strangely the same bartendar girl pointed fingers at my daughter, screaming at my 10 yr old and claimed she was the one who she served a can of coke to! My daughter hates coke and chocolates. I asked the manager to see the cameras. And at the same time my hubby came and told me he was the one who had the coke served to him by one of the waiters, therefor the accusation towards my 10 yr old was an appalling lie from an adult. It was horrifying for her sitting there 4 people screaming at her when clearly it wasnt true. And all over 1 can of coke! The manager was swift an agreed to apologise to my daughter. I felt that the staff do not have a clue because they possibly do not have a system implemented..most of all im shocked with the integrity of that bartendar.

The cleanliness is fine except i dont understand why they wont change the sandy drippy wet bath mats daily.. At that kind of price we could have stayed in club med or an actual 5 star lux resort with clean towels and linen, we understand that you are trying to cut costs and be sustainable but then it should be reflected on the price and service and not be subjected to this horrifying experience! Perhaps next time have a tap and towel at the door of the room. I can understand if your rooms only costs 200rm or so bit i dont expect paying thi kind of money and getting sub par conditions!

I have never ever given anyone a negstive feed back on trip advisor! Never thought i would have to for a 5 star hotel!!
