Before this trip, we have been to a few islands...like Perhentian Island, Tioman Island, Pangkor Island, Pangkor Laut Island etc. To be honest, used to read reviews saying that Redang has the nicest beach & the most wonderful coral reefs but then after visiting Redang ourselves recently, we can summarize that it wasn't as great as claimed! Would not be in our next re-visit places seriously....

You can walk around the island in a day. I suggest staying at Redang Reef Resort. You can snorkel basically anywhere near the beach, just walk a bit towards the sea and you will see fishes and marine life immediately. We got the chance to see baby sharks. Ask your tour guide for the area on where you can catch these. I got a bit scared being near them but it was a thrilling and exciting experience.

- Traveled by bus from Singapore (11-12 hrs on bus)+ 30-40 mins to Merang Jetty and 45 mins ferry to Redang Island- totally worth it

I just came back from Redang yesterday after spending 4 days there. The sea is crystal clear and the sand is lovely. Make sure you avoid Monsoon season, as the water would not be as great. Its is advisable to visit it from April until September to fully enjoy its beauty.

Getting there is pretty tiring whether you're traveling by bus or plane. Once arrived at Kuala Terrenganu airport, there are two ways to get to the island. Either take a public ferry from SyahBandar Jetty (20 mnts from airport) and its a 1 hr and 40 mnts boat ride to redang island. Its very long and anticipating, and I dont know whether its always this case but; they had loud Indian music of a famous indian movie Khabi Ghusi kabi gam. It was very noisy and stuff inside.

OR

Take a cab from the airport to Merang Jetty for RM 55. The ride is for an hour, and later take a speed boat to Redang (only 40 minutes) and costs about RM 50 per person. This is a much better option for those sea lovers who want air to kiss their cheeks and make their hair fly while they enjoy amazing scenery of the sea.

Overall, if you're looking for a calm and relaxed holiday, Lang Tenggah would be the best option. Redang is amazing, but it is crowded and filled with jetties that keep going back and forth to the shore. It is suitable for people who like a good ambience.

Just a perfect gateway spot. Do not miss this island if you love snorkelling and scuba diving. One of the best island among all you can find at east-cost of peninsular Malaysia.
