Rooms not well maintained, a big let down

I had high hopes going to Redang Island Resort. but it was a major let down. The rooms are not well maintained. And it was a long "hike" to the lobby and they don't have a properly scheduled transportation services for the guests. I pity those who were in wheelchairs and elderly who opted for this resort, and placed at the far end, because it was a long walk, and the place is not differently abled friendly.

They also don't provide transportation services to the nearby restaurants. They should consider an hourly service to the guests with a few identified stops so the guests could enjoy the view of the kampung (village) and the company of the friendly locals.

They provided only transport to the public beach at 5:30 pm, and a pick up at 7 pm. Little that we know we were to walk an additional 30 minutes to the beach, so that only left us with about 1/2 hour or so at the beach. Which sucks.

The room could be beautiful, but they don't seem to care about the rooms. My friend's room didn't have a working AC. The shower head seems loose and I was scared to death everytime I took the shower, I was afraid it could drop on me when showering.

The pool was nice, but there weren't any towels provided. So we had to walk in our wet suits back to the rooms (15 minutes walk)

They forgot to take one of our luggage out when sending us to the jetty, and they refused to send it because the van was not full, almost causing my friends take another ferry. They managed to convince the ferry operator to wait for them an extra 10 minutes because we were already inside.

Lucky for me the company I was with was a fun one. Otherwise the experience would have been really bad. They should take care of the resort, because it gives a different experience while in Redang Island. I love that it's on top of the hill and gives that beautiful view of the sea and marine park. And I love that it has fir trees along the way to the rooms. I don't mind the walks at night but they should consider regular transport provided within the compound at least so we could enjoy the facilities better.

Would I go again? Maybe never.
Would I recommend it? Perhaps not.

      Stayed here 4daya/3nights with their recent promotion package. Not a beachfront hotel like their sister company: Taaras. The hotel was very run down, very limited facilities and the room have very basic amenities. The aircond in our room was leaking and worst was during our stay, electricity cut off from 9.30am to 11pm. Thr electricity tripped basically due to too much electricity was used and it cannot excess the current load. The hotel was overbooked i guess. Overall.. The worst stay ever.

      Will not recommend anyone to stay this resort.

      What can i say, this hotel rate is quite affordable equipped with swimming pool and gym. But mostly importantly just outside the hotel there is, i believe,the best thai seafood restaurant in the whole island. A must try if you stay in this hotel.

      It is a big investment by Berjaya group but the resort was ignored for its maintenance. Looking at the building and the facilities, I can imagine that 20 years ago it could have been a nice resort. But since Taaras resort was built, this place was totally ignored. We stayed at Taaras for 2 nights and wanted to book Redang Beach Resort for 1 night at long beach to have a total experience. However I mistaken Redang Island Resort for Redang Beach but paid and made booking Agoda. There’s not much of facilities in Redang Island Resort but the chalet and the scenery are very nice. It is only lack of maintenance that made all the facilities dusty and not operational. They gym equipment is so dusty, no towel counter for the pool. We were wondering maybe it’s because Berjaya would like to concentrate in Taaras and afraid that this place if it is as good it will give internal competition to Taaras ? Personally if I were the management, I think Redang Island Resort is going to give synergistic impact to Taaras business as the local can stay in Redang Island Resort but go to Taaras for food and activities. This should be how Berjaya post its challenge to its competitors in Long Beach

      I stayed for 2 days at room 600 and 601. The resort is pretty busy but at several parts of it time seems to have stopped. The wide corridors, high ceilings and hall-sized rooms in the reception cum dining block took me to some British colonial era. The cottages are long walk from there uphill and often minivans drop residents. The hotel staff use bikes for room service.
      PROS
      1. We found the dining, though limited in option, good. Dishes were tasty (Chicken Curry specially) and hygienic.
      2. I liked the small rocky beach inside and view of the rainforest.
      CONS
      1. Washroom of the cottages are like from bygone era with serious issues in flush.
      2. Everything is far from this hotel. For Public Beach and Village Jetty there is no other option but board Bus. Bus timings are severely restricted and missing one would lead you in serious jeopardy.
      3. The Public Beach was nice but to access it you have to walk for 15 mins after getting down from bus and then the last few meters are downhill forest and garbage heap. The bus starts from the hotel at 5 PM and picks your up at 6:30 PM. So within 1.5 hours, I am expected to walk down, bathe and come back.
      4. Bath Towels is an issue. You only get fresh towels at 4 PM and that also I had to pursue on both days.

      Overall I think its not the best place to stay at Redang but a fair compromise if you are a cost conscious traveler.

      Stayed in Redang Island resort for 2 nights. Big let down , property was taken considering Berjaya however this is not even 20% to Berjaya standards. Don’t go with Berjaya name and you will be disappointed.

      Stayed in sea face room. Only positive which had nice view over the ocean hence have provided 2 star 🌟

      Upon check in , towels were not available . When enquired house keeping and reception claim that towels will be provided only at 4 PM. Strange to give a room with out towels and charge in 4 start category.

      No proper lighting in pathway , pretty dark in night to walk from reception to rooms. Upon complaining, Answer provided was more annoying. Simply asked is it so ? People from
      House keeping pass every 10 minutes in bike , haven’t they noticed?

      Food - terrible .we booked in full board , hence all meals were in hotel . One of the worst decision . Food was horrible , either it was chill or no food in counter . Team doesn’t know to manage food served in buffet and was busy taking orders for ala carte. If you are not able to service customer please don’t provide this option.

      Don’t plan to stay in the property if you like a peaceful holiday . There are lot of other good options with less cost compared to this old resort sold under Berjaya
