“Best roast chicken in Morocco”

Come here for the chicken! Absolutely delicious.

The serving comes with some yellow rice and fries on the side, as well as a dish of 'sauce' (fat and gravy from the roasting) mixed with olives and preserved lemons, to dip your bread into. There are some nice side bean or chickpea dishes for next to nothing.

The restaurant is well-run and very popular with locals (I even saw a woman having lunch there by herself!). It's not a fancy place but also far from the low standard of workers' cafes in Moroccan cities. The local clientele looked pretty well-heeled. You get a little paper placemat and cutlery, they stock cold water, and there is an orange-juice cart parked at the entrance.

I was delighted with my meal. If I could improve one thing, I'd have the fries made fresh to order. Otherwise, would definitely eat here again. Wish there was one like it in every city on my way.

You will not find a more typical restaurant in Ouarzazate. Our Moroccan driver told us he would take us to his favourite place and this was it. We ate kebabs, lentil dhal with sides of bread and chips. The chips were a bit cool and soggy but the kebabs and dhal were really delicious. Plenty of fresh bread provided too.
You have to be comfortable mixing it with the locals as it is quite manic with waiters rushing from kitchen to table and yelling to each other. Also we had beggars come up to us whilst we were eating which was a little off-putting.
For 5 meals including water/cokes it was £3 per head and for once we felt like we were dining in Morocco not in a tourist trap restaurant.

Well, this isn't for the faint of heart... Its the most typical and straightforward restaurant you will find. There are cats on the floor praying on your leftovers, and no one seems to mind. Cleanliness if out the roof and english is not a very well known language. Some of the dishes were good, others were, well, as bad as 6€ per person could buy.
Beware, it will taste like Morocco and you might see some stuff you are not used to, but that's the point of travelling in the first place.

Best place to eat in town if you want the real Moroccan food and ambient. Very low prices but the food is just awesome. We tasted several different dishes and all were great, I loved the grilled chicken and some sauce made mostly of olive oil and some herbs (don't know the name but it was delicious). Lots of cats wandering around but they give a good ambiance.
