I booked the hotel because a friend recommended the lake and I was doing research on the Hungarian border. It's a lovely old house but as a hotel, its not quite 4 star.
Upon arrival, although it seemed like I was the only guest, I was booked into the room directy in front of the reception area (room 101). The manager is loud and likes to hang out there and chat with the staff so I could hear everything. I moved to the second floor and it was much better. The rooms are pretty spacious and the bathroom has good water pressure. The wifi was pretty fast.
Previous reviewers commented on the good restaurant but apparently that is not open anymore. That was a disappointment as I didn't want to go into town and wanted the tranquility of the lake. I had a very nice ham and eggs breakfast in the hotel restaurant but the entire staff congregated in the restaurant at the bar having a very loud shouting type conversation for my entire meal. Again I was the only guest.
The spa appeared closed down and no one mentioned it to me.
However staff are very friendly and helped me book taxis both into town and to Hungary. And the pool looked nice. The lake is lovely and just 2 minutes walk down a quiet street by the zoo.More
