Our hosts were very friendly and helpful, having organised a Tuk Tuk pick up from the train station and they managed to get us great tickets for the Esala Perahera festival. Nothing was too much trouble. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable and breakfast was delicious!

We stayed at the Mountain View for two nights in July. The home is in the hills above Kandy (tuk tuk needed) where it is fresh, green, and very quiet at night. Our room was comfortable and clean with a large bathroom. Loved having windows in both rooms. Donald and Sunanda were the best hosts! They arranged for us to see the Perahera parade, gave us great restaurant recommendations, and hooked us up with a wonderful driver to Ella (and whom we continued to use later during our trip.) We enjoyed the breakfasts and at the end of the day we were happy to be able to drink a beer in the garden or on our private balcony!

Donald and Sunanda were fantastic hosts. From the moment we arrived, they warmly welcomed us into their home and ensured we had a lovely stay. The place itself is located in the hills of Kandy where the noise of the city seems a million miles away. The house is very cosy and has a beautiful little garden where the meals are served. If you're planning to stay here, make sure you get the room with the balcony, it's worth every extra penny as you can have your breakfast looking out of the Kandy cityscape. Without question though, our favourite part of the stay was the dinners cooked by Sunanda. Cooked from scratch, delicious Sri Lanka food, it was some of the best food we ate on the whole holiday. You need to order in advance so they have time to prepare. We really wish we cook have cook a cooking lesson from Sunanda rather than the place we went in Galle as it would have been a much nicer place to learn and the food was better all round.

This place is lovely. The owner is so warm and welcoming we felt right at home. The wifi was free and worked perfectly. The breakfast was really tasty and reasonably priced. The view was stunning. We went on a tour too for 6000rs two of us all the way to Sigiriya, Dambulla and Mathale and back with lots of other stops along the way too. Really good value for money. The place is about a 20 minute walk to Kandy lake but the owner can take you in his Tuktuk in 5 minutes for a cheap price. The room and bathroom was spotlessly clean too. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

What can I say, thank you sincerely for such a lovely review. So glad you enjoyed all the facilities & especially the food, the dinner which we do by special request & try & mix all our guests together for a very special evening on the terrace in the garden with all the decorative lights. Transportation you experienced which you enjoyed by our English speaking selected drivers to 3hrs distance from MVHH, glad you had a lovely day.
Many thanks,

This was our second stay at Mountain View and just as enjoyable. Set in the hills above Kandy it offers a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet only a R350 tuk tuk drive away. Our room had spectacular views over Kandy and breakfast on the terrace was a joy. Donald and Sunenda are the perfect hosts (not forgetting Jimmy the Dog) and will prepare a delicious Sri Lankan evening meal on request at a very reasonable price, arrange tuk tuks and advise on where to visit. If you are looking for a "Home from Home" at a budget price then I can recommend Mountain View 100%. Hope to return one day.

Room tip: Top floor has great views.
