I stayed at Olas with my family 2 teenagers and my husband from July 16-19. The hotel is good for the price. Comfortable beds, AC, cable, and hot water. Nothing fancy just what you need after a long day of activities. It includes breakfast (coffee and a small muffin). Though they have an amazing fruit plate with yougurt and granola for $5.00. The hotel is a 3 story building, on the first floor there are some room, laundry, kitchen, a deck where you get the best wi-fi signal and you can relax in the hammocks. Second story are more rooms and a second deck, nice view. The third story is only rooms.
They have bikes and kayaks for rent. They also have some books on the second floor deck. I would definetely recommend it and will stay there again.

Room Tip: 3rd floor rooms since there is least traffic.

Place is nice for the price. Our first room really smelled but luckily we were moved. Beds are not that comfortable. Owner/manager/person in charge of the hotel was a complete bully and verbally abusive to his staff. The first mornin after our arrival we heard a man screaming at the lady in the reception as we walked closer he stopped yelling and continued to eat but, immediately walked back to her and continued to yell at her. He continued to yell at her in front of all of us until he almost made her cry. Later by observation we realized that he was the owner/manager/person in charge of the hotel. We decided to leave after that incident.

We are backpackers, so we came to Bocas with no reservations. Checked out couple of properties. They were either expensive, or on a main drag (too loud), or just dirty. Then we decided to check out Hotel Olas, which is located just off the main drag with it's bars/restaurants, in the quiet residential area. We got a great price on a room (it's low season now), with AC (yeh, baby!) and cable tv. The room was big with two very comfortable beds in it. Adequate size shower. The water in electric shower was hot (you just have to change the setting on it, i guess some people just don't know that).
So... I have absolutely NOTHING to complain about. Great property, great location, fantastic manager (?) Noam. He is very sweet, suave man, who gave us many recommendations about places to visit, tours etc.
And since we are traveling with a 2 year old kid, they let us keep some simple food for him (milk, yougurt, cheese) in their fridge. Which was very nice. I really appreciated. Everybody is very friendly at the hotel: from maids, who just adored my baby, to the manager who was very helpful.
I highly recommend this hotel.

My husband and I were in Bocas Del Toro from June 3 thru June 7, 2012. We stayed a few days in Boquete before coming to Bocas. The first 2 nights we stayed at Koko Resort at the end of the town 15 mins. away on foot. Then we ran into this capper kid, Orlando, at the pier about boat cruises and he mentioned Hotel Olas. We checked it out and decided to move in and stayed for 2 nights. The location is fine being in a residential neighborhood but only 3 short blocks from downtown. The hotel is right on the water and the patio on the back provides plenty of seats for guests with a bar which serves drinks and breakfast with coffee, orange juice and a muffin. The patio is also a pier where the water taxis pick up guests for tours/cruises. The corridor is clean and both walls are decorated with nice paintings. There is one computer for public use and free wifi and it has decent speed. The staff we met Nairobi and Nadiuska were very pleasant and helpful.

I ran into the manager, Noam, a day ago without knowing who he was when we were trying to take a water taxi to Almirante. He was nice enough to let us know that there were other water taxis to catch without waiting for another 30 minutes and he rode his bike telling us that he would hold the water taxi for us.

The hotel was pretty vacant when we visited, probably less than 50% occupied. Therefore, it was pretty quiet as we were given a room on the 3rd floor. There is also a patio on the second floor but not on the 3rd.

The rooms are on the small side but adequate. It has a TV with cable, air-conditioning which is pretty cold, a shelf, a comfortable bed with pretty clean sheets and pillows that don't smell (we paid more than twice the amount at another hotel and the sheets and pillows were very smelly) and we were not beaten by bed bugs. The bathroom has an ok showerhead, water was not particularly hot but it was decent. It also provided small pieces of soap and relatively clean towels. So all in all, the room was just fine to us. One thing, the walls are very thin and I could hear everything the guests next room were saying.

It is true that there are two green parrots in the ground floor patio and they squawked a lot during the day and it can get annoying. However, the view is pretty spectacular in the evening and at night there were breezes as we sat on the bench when it was very hot in downtown.

It is also true that a man who speaks Hebrew always parked there and looked pretty intimidating and never made an attempt to greet anyone. I presume he is the owner of the hotel but he did not bother me. I ran into a friend from Boquete and we bought a few beers and sat on the bench on the patio out front until 10 pm and he sort of stared at us at times but never said anything so we just ignored him.

The manager, Noam, was exceptionally nice in arranging a boat tour for us; in storing our netbook in his safe without any complaint when we retrieved it from time to time; he even filled our water bottles for us with filtered water. He is a great guy.

All together, we have no complaint about the hotel. In fact, we enjoyed it in comparison to the very expensive one we stayed before.

Room Tip: There are two sides of the building: the right side is noisier due to machinery nearby and the left...

This was a nice little place to stay. A/C worked great!! Almost got too cold. ;) Nice patio on the water, as well as another cool sitting area upstairs. A little far from the main drag, but its not too far to walk if you're up to it. Maybe a little bit on the pricey side, but well worth it. Bed was comfortable and the place was very clean. Definitely important qualities in places I plan on laying my head.
