Owner description: Temples and crumbling mansions lie hidden in narrow lanes. So are remarkable sights: monks, monkeys, gods and ghosts, sacred trees, a glittering wedding market... Walk with our young guides, stop, take a picture, ask questions, listen to stories that merge the old with the new. Take a rickshaw to the permanent yellow red mist of the spice market. Climb for a rooftop view. The Street Connections Old Delhi Walk is run, enthusiastically, by ex-beneficiaries of the Salaam Baalak Trust, an Indian charity working with street children. It ends at SBT's largest boys' shelter home where you hear the guides' own stories and why other children still run away. We invite you to come and see all this, and by doing to help the guides build their independent lives, and help the Trust's ongoing work too.

This tour offers an unparalleled experience of Old Delhi from a perspective you won't find with any other tour company. Led by former street youth, who were beneficiaries of Salaam Balak Trust, it is a unique, informative and insightful experience that provides a window into the city and its underbelly. Lalit, my guide was exceptional. He was incredibly informative, entertaining, casual and yet completely professional in how he led the tour. I was able to see things I would never have found on my own and experience it through a lens that made it feel completely non-touristic and authentic. It felt entirely unrushed with time for a chai break from one of Delhi's oldest running chai stalls, lots of opportunity to stop and take it all in, stories all along the way and stunning rooftop views from the spice market. There is an added personal touch by being led from a former street youth and being able to gain some insight into how the Trust has helped him. The tour ends at the Children's Home where Lalit gave a bit of insight into how the Salaam Balak Trust has helped him. By taking this tour you are supporting continued employment and the livelihood of many like him while experiencing a fascinating look at one of the world's most intriguing cities. This tour was an absolute highlight from my time in Delhi and I can't recommend it enough.

If you want to take an authentic, nonrushed, informative tour, this is the one for you. Lalit made it very special by showing us alleys known especially to locals. We got glimpses into everyday life in Old Delhi - a great mosque, courtyards, working places, shops, stunning views. We would highly recommend this tour to anybody who wants to experience a personalized walk.  It was just our family composed of four people. At the end of the walk, we went to the Salam Balak Shelter.  This organization not only provides an experienced guide with an incredible real-life story, but also funds the education of children who had once been growing up in the streets.

Our tour included Sanjay as well as Nick (UK Director). The sights were fascinating and thrilling. Not your standard tour with Viator, Sanjay explained with pride the various sights we visited He asked questions, joked with us and was very knowledgeable. Sanjay understands his hard work has given hm a career to be self sufficient for years to come. At the end of the tour Sanjay proudly showed us the Salaam Baalak Trust Shelter and School where he lived. He was greeted by faculty and students a like with hellos and best wishes.

Take this tour with Street Connections

You will not regret it

We had a fascinating tour with Sanju, who was a great guide. His own personal story added to the experience, and we saw things we would never have found on our own. The Salaam Balaak Trust does great work with the street children, so by doing this walk you are supporting their efforts as well as gaining a real insight into the history and culture of Old Delhi. Would highly recommend this walk.
