“Beautiful hill top temple!”
Reviewed 27 November 2011

A beautiful, yet simple, Krishna temple sitting on the hilltop, with a very scenic approach road.

Visited this on the way while returning to Bangalore from Bandipur (you need to take a left from the nearest village Hangala). A checkpost just prior to the approach road at the base of the hill checks the vehicle and passengers for plastic, which was very nice. The approach road is extremely broken and in bad shape, but nevertheless its very picturesque and provides a breathtaking panoramic view of the locality below.

Locally known as Gopalswamy betta, the temple itself is a very simple one, with a shrine of lord Krishna. The temple is said to have natural dripping waters, which the pujari sprinkles on the devotees.

The surrounding hills are known to be great for trekking.

“Natures Mystery”
Reviewed 5 December 2008

Himada gopalswamy temple is 230kms from Bangalore,it is off Mysore-ooty road, near gundlupet.
It is so named because round the year the hill is covered with mist, presiding diety of the temple lord krishna is drenched by water droplets which condense within sanctum sanctorum .Water droplets also sprinkled on devotees visiting the temple.Krishna idol is at majestic best.
Nature is at its best on this small hill, cool, green, and unexplored nature.
There is no basic amenities, food and water should be carried.
Apart from mist, temple we can come across herds of elephant.

I learnt about the place from a tv channel and set to visit in september with my family and friends. Its exciting one day outing from Bangalore.
