Bombay to Barcelona Library Cafe
Ranked #23 of 15,195 Restaurants in Mumbai
Certificate of Excellence
Description: This coffe shop is run by street boys and girls, and everybody, no matter their background, can go inside and take a book. There are many children who struggle to cope with their lives. Some of them have trained to be carpenters or welders, drivers or electricians, so there is a board where you can find the phone numbers of these children-turned-professionals

My son and I walked out of our hotel this morning in Bombay, and we were just looking for a good coffee house. We asked a rickshaw driver to just take us to a good one. He got stuck in a traffic mess and the traffic cop pointed him down the street to the Bombay to Barcelona Library Cafe. What good fortune because this place is like a hidden treasure.

My son ordered the Delhi Aloo Chaat which is a potato and onion dish (pictured). The herbs and spices (especially coriander) just pop with flavor. I also tried the Spanish omelette which was mild but delicious. The cafe had a library so you can read books, including a book written by the owner. They contribute to a large orphanage to help kids get off the street, and the cooks were previously on the street, but man are they cooking now!

This is my absolute favorite cafe in Mumbai. Not just that the food and beverages are delicious, they are healthy and made with love. The staff is superb, and happy to accomodate any customization you ask for.
Amin(the owner) personally takes care of you, and makes sure all guests feel more like family.
They don't use plastic straws, and support many social causes. To make everything more perfect, there are many books that you can read!
I recommend this place to everyone who comes to Mumbai!

The cafe has a unique appeal serving Spanish food at affordable prices and addictive cutting chai. The cafe has perfect blend of everything art, literature, comfort and coziness. Above all the cafe is dedicated to support the dreams of less privileged.

The place exudes lot of positivity and peace. Must visit for all.

Came here with my mum a few days ago, had the chicken special sandwich (minced chicken), it was lovely at the time, but I had diarrhoea for 24 hours after, and this was the only restaurant I went in that day, I went for a meal that night but couldn’t eat anything because I was ill. It has to either be the chicken or the water that was provided at this restaurant. Really disappointing as it is such a lovely concept and lovely people who work there, but I couldn’t not mention this in the review.
