This place is at the end of a long and winding road amidst not so dense forest and can be reached after crossing a s small stream of cool fresh water via a cable bridge. The place is surrounded by hills and since we went during the monsoons they were all covered with clouds giving a very romantic touch to the place. One can also go and bath in the stream which is not too dangerous provided the water is not too much. My daughter really loved those moments. The lodging facility is what is not very good. Although concrete lodges are there unlike the river camp that has only tents, the rooms are not well maintained and the smell of dampness never leaves you. The linens etc have fungus marks all over and the mattress are in really bad shape. The bathrooms have recently been renovated and are good. It would be a good idea to take bed-sheets, pillow covers etc on this trip if you are a little finicky about those elements. The food served did not have too much variety but were tasty. Overall a memorable stay for all of us.

If you are a nature lover, welcome to nature resorts.. You will be truly immersed in its lush green beauty, but when it comes to maintenance, not quite good. No ceiling FAN in rooms and canteen.. 1 pedestal in each room.so better not choose this destination in summer.2 single cots with 2 single mosquito nets in each room.. So its very problematic to accommodate 3 persons in 1 room. overall there are some little cons if you look forward to a very comfortable and luxurious stay.. But it will definitely be a remarkable stay in the lap of nature..

Not so far from Samsing, Suntalekhola is located at a picturesque location, is ideal for a weekend break. The guesthouse from forest dept offers best location.

My first suggestion is to remove your “luxury tourist” hat before stepping into the Forest Rest house – yes, although it is called a “Nature Resort”, this is no more than a Forest Rest House. Located in the deepest lap of Suntalaykhola – a mountainous stream or rivulet, you’ll find yourself surrounded by hills and gulped by deep thickets of forest. The motorable approach road is abruptly cut short by the river – ehrer you’ve to use the wooden hanging bridge (no more than 5 persons at a time, as suggested) to reach the resort. The resort premises is no different than the forest itself – housing a total number of 8 cottages with basic amenities including geysers. The resort is maintained by a team of 3-4 efficient person who interchange duties between caretaker cum cook cum bearer cum laundry cum receptionist. Food is served in home-style and served on your designated table in the dining hall where you are supposed t help yourself. No complimentary breakfast – which comes at a nominal cost. Lunch / dinner has – veg meal (rice / chapatti, bhaja, daal, sabji, salad) @ 100/-; egg meal @ 110/-, fish meal @ 130/- and chicken meal @ 160/-. Breakfast is either chapatti / luchi with sabji.
Tourists generally make day visits or stay for 1 night. We stayed for 3 nights & enjoyed the solitude of nature & rain to the fullest. The rambling of the Suntalaykhola river & constant sound of cricket throughout the day & night filled our senses.
Few points to mention to the fellow tourists: We visited at the onset of monsoon, so encountered:
1. Lots of insects including centipede, leeches. Carry anti-itching cream / lotion (like caladryl)
2. Frequent power failure – carry torches, candles, matches
3. Carry insect /mosquito repellant. They’ll provide 2 single mosquito nets per room with 2 single beds. Join the beds & hang a bigger mosquito net of your own.
4. Insufficient towel & toiletries.
5. Dining hall is devoid of fan, canteen is understaffed.
6. No packaged drinking water ; have to help yourself with AquaGuard water
7. Lack of security at front gate – there should be restricted entry which will not allow day visitors
So gear yourself up, come prepared to enjoy nature at it’s best

This is another hidden gem at Doors. Some may say it's just a stream passing by but the place is very beautiful for those who love nature and love to be in a serene place away from the crowd. You can just spend hours sitting by the stream or even follow the stream for some distance (one has to be careful). Watching the water gushing through the stream is simply great to cool down our stressed nerves.
