We were taken to this restaurant by a local and told it was authentic Peranakan food so we were quite excited to taste. Plus we know malacca was an old port town with various spices coming though so wondered what the flavours would be. We ordered around 6 dishes for 3 of us to share. To be honest it was a bit of a let down as the food seemed quite bland to me. The chicken curry was bland, the sour prawn soup wasn’t sour enough, the steamed okra was only ok with the chilli sauce dip. The rice was ok.
We were hungry and appreciated the recommendation so it was ok but I honestly wouldn’t eat there again.
Plus he fact that it was quite busy so they put us up on the 3rd floor which is basically a store room with 3 tables so we were surrounded by boxes and packages as we ate, a bit unusual and not a full peranakan experience for me.
