This was the worst guesthouse I have ever stayed in. We stayed for 2 nights. First of all, when we arrived, we were shown to our room. It was across the road, very small and very uncomfortable. The bathrooms were extremely dirty but we managed just fine.

The next day, we were told that we had to leave our room! We were told to go to a different room across the road again because someone else had previously booked our room. We had booked online in advance. So the lady said it was ok. Then, 5 minutes later, she rushed and banged on our door and said the boss demands that we change the room to make way for these other guests. She said we had to change "NOW". I was extremely angry, but we went across the road. They tried to switch us to a room with a double bed, which is not what we had booked. They tried to imply that we were being difficult guests, despite the fact that their boss was the one being difficult. I have never stayed in a place where I was told to change rooms like that.

It is not a safe environment for young children to stay either. No windows in the room and no air con. Very small rooms too.

They offered us a part refund and a free postcard. Not good enough for the hassle we had.

I would not recommend this place for anyone!

The owners are incredibly sweet, and at bight there is a diversity of people and drinks being sold!
For sure very exciting place.
The bayleys coffee was very good, and the chinese tea amazing.
Place have internet and owners that smily helped some questions about melaka.

I stay here in private room (share restrooms) for 2 days, it's quite small. Hostel is located near riverside walkway and Jonker street but it's not clean. There is a restaurant on ground floor, playing folksong everyday.

The cafe is a sort of little museum with a history of gadgets. It is very easy going and the owner knows a lot about Malaka. So, if you need information, go to Discovery, take a coffee and ask the owner.

Its insanely cheap and well located.
rooms can get really hot during the day.
the restaurant below is quite cool and all sorts of interesting people gather there
the owner is really fun and helpful.
i was staying in the single room with a shared bathroom and it was quite clean and tidy. No complaints there.
The Internet is spotty but if you are backpacking in Asia when is it not??

Overall if you are looking for a budget place with a great location friendly staff and are not too fussy about the rooms.... this is a great place.
