Stayed between 8-10th Feb 2018. List of problems. Staff needs to go for service culture classes in terms of speaking. Not that they are rude but i believe they can perform better. They need to improve on guest name usage and guest recongition.
1) Check in was quite long especially with many staff behind the reception desk (Perhaps trainees)
2) Safe deposit box battery was flat. Makes u wonder if anyone check the room before releasing it for guests to check in. Had to call someone to change the batteries.
3) Bathroom sink water flowed very slowly causing it to be clogged. Left the room and they sent someone to fix it. Came back and found the stopper raised so it was good. Makes u wonder again if anyone checks the room before releasing it for guests to check in
4) Came back in the evening, took a shower and found water in the shower stall gets clogged up to and by now gave up on calling anyone to fix it.
5) I had a list of places of where i wanted to go and ask the concierge who was not there but an indian Bellman took over and he doesnt seem to understand what i wanted. I asked him if they could rearrange my list of places to go by distance and all he did was to tell me which ones are near and far. Clearly he could not understand what i wanted and reiterated his version of what im asking for. Some places he mentioned had very long queues but when i got there, only a short queue greeted me.
6) Lifts are horrible but they are currently doing some repair works on it. I mentioned to a bellman that one of the lifts the keycard slots were not working. That same lift was running the next day and this time I wasnt alone so a few guest including me had to exit at level 11 and change lift.
7) Non smoking hotel. But front door is open and before u exit the hotel the ciggie smell does enter the lobby to a certain bit.
Understand this hotel is 4 stars but if they want to reach for 5 stars they have some work to do.

Good points
1) a reception staff by the name of Langfrey was awesome. Good directions given out. Trustworthy lad.
2) Breakfast staff in the restaurant were welcoming.
3) Location is good as u can reach many places by walking alone.

The Hatten is well located in Melaka, close to several shopping malls and a 15 minute walk to the historic Jonker Walk.

The hotel presents very well with well maintained rooms of a good size. We had two double rooms, and both rooms were very comfortable and included good facilities. The buffet breakfast available with the rooms was one of the best I have experienced, with a wide range of foods including Western, Chinese, and Malaysian cuisines. The highlight was the freshly-baked croissants and the made-on-the-spot roti.

The only downside of the hotel was the lift system. While there were plenty of lifts they were slow and often full, resulting in very long waits.

This is a truly successful hotel, it gives consumers best value from lovely rooms to scrumptuous breakfasts. No wonder is always great in demand! Its location is superb and one can shop without being under the sun or rain. Mahkota Parade Mall is the only place you need to take a flights of stairs outside shelter after crossing a connecting bridge. Sky Lounge on Level 21 is worth a visit, great views of the city with live singing to make the ambience even better. Hip Hip Hooray Hatten Hotel!

Love the spacious room. However there doesn't seem to be any difference between the Deluxe and Junior suite although I paid more for the slightly bigger room.
Check-in and information counters are the same and it seemed to take forever for our turn. Similarly for the lifts.

Clean, centrally located hotel with unsynchronised lifts. There are 8 lifts and 22 flours so the lifts should technically get to a floor by 2.8mins. However this is not the case as one has to wait for more than 10mins to get one which is very frustrating. To make things worst, customers got fed up of waiting so when they want to go down, they go all the way up to get down which makes the situation worst.

The hairdryer at Hatten is a fire risk. The hair dryer in our room was patched by a tape. It wasn’t working and I requested for another. The second one came with the tape around the wire. I told the housekeeper that it was a fire risk as people could get eletrocuted. The housekeeper mention that most of the hairdryers were taped. Well the second one didn’t work either so I gave up.

Bathroom was clean though there were some leaks after having a shower.

There was a good selection of food for breakfast buffet. However, drinks such as tea and coffee were awful plus there wasn’t any bottled water. We weren’t sure if boiled water was used for the cold drinks so we avoided them just to be on the safe side.

Overall disappointing as it could have been better. Great location as it’s about 10-15mins walk to Jonker Street. It’s also close to shops and amenities.
