Before pandemic, i heard good reviews of Hatten hotel, its location, service, buffet bfast etc. But i was shocked to see a huge drop in standards over the years. Location is hood as its conveniently located among malls and walking distance to Jonker Walk. The mall linked by the hotel is totally empty, with very little tenants left. It looks like a ghost mall. Avoid that place. The other 2 malls nearby are good enough to walk around. Hotel service standards are a let-down. Complained about room phone not working thrice but nothing was done. Room furniture looked like it may collapse sooner or later. Passageway along the rooms were dimly lit, wonder why. Facade of hotel looks worn out. Hotel buffet bfast was not up to standard. Very asian food and more could be done to improve variety of food. I avoided the bfast after the first try. Pool was good. Bedsheets were not clean, they had yellow stains. Room carpet smells. If nothing is done to rectify the faults, this hotel will crumble soon.

Room was beautiful, very spacious with king size bed and separate sitting area. Shower did not wet floor outside. Hand towels were provided without asking. Downside: Slow check in because system upgrading going on. Moreover check-in staff gave us a wrong password, causing me to queue at reception for almost half an hour to get the correct password.
Breakfast had widespread of food and good selection of drinks
Overall: excellent facilities and breakfast but other aspects can be improved.

The hotel needs to upkeep. Dirty carpet. Fridge with no plug and has to request for replacement. No hand towels provided and has to request Housekeeping. Chambermaid cleared away the hand towel and never replace new one after making our room daily...I have to call housekeeping daily to request for new piece. Room is not worth 5 stars. More like 3 stars.

The plus point is the food served for breakfast. There is American Style and local Style of food available. And the location is good.

Was contemplating staying at a newer and better rated place (but further out from shopping malls). But finally decided to come back to Hatten for its excellent location which is undisputable. Walking distance to palawan mall, cinemas and makota parade, St Paul's Cathedral and plenty of good food stalls cafes and eateries

We were not sure of the standards as we have been reading up on recent reviews which indicted some poor and inconsistent reviews. Took a leap of faith and booked the family into 3 rooms. Thankfully everything was good. It was a good stay through the 2 nights for the 6 of us. Yay!

Check in was slow and there was minimum staff at reception although check out was ok
Fridge in room was not working when checking in although it was replaced after complaints , we were a group and a few of us had similar problems
Stained bathroom floor
Smell from water outlet in bathroom
Was off putting

Room tip: For the room price there are better hotels in Melaka
