“Words can't describe....”
Reviewed 28 February 2012

We just got back from our honeymoon and Tokoriki was our absolute highlight! Words can't really describe the beauty, friendliness and food we experienced on this island! We wish we had spent all our time here. The food was so exceptional, it was hard to believe we were on an island! The gorgeous music sung by the staff each and every day was just beautiful and our bure with outdoor shower was fabulous! We stumbled on Tokoriki in a brochure and took a punt, I hope this review makes just one more person choose this as a special holiday destination as they won't be disappointed. Thank you Tokoriki and all of your team for making our honeymoon so special, hopefully we will be home again soon! Nicole and Matt

Room Tip: Not sure if all rooms have an outdoor shower but ours was AMAZING!!!

Bula Matt and Nicole,

Vinaka for your wonderful guest comments on your honeymoon with us. Well done on your punt on searching for the right resort! Tokoriki was the first resort in Fiji to have outdoor showers (and they are featured in all our 34 bures)! We are now the first and only resort featuring a Teppanyaki restaurant (seating only 4 couples). A traditional Fijian Bure located in tropical gardens, surrounded by fish and lily ponds with one Teppan table, it's a great way to meet other guests and experience a different dining option.

Our Exec Chef Rainal is attending the South Pacific Food & Wine festival in Fiji over the next 3 days and will be working with international Chefs such as Manu Feildel, Robert Oliver, Peter Gordon, Michael Meredith, Ben O’Donoghue and Peter Kuruvita. Another element of Tokoriki's food philosphy to encourage our team to co aspire to greatness! Vinaka once again and please return to visit us again soon.

We only returned from Tokoriki yesterday, but with a million 'catching up' chores to do at home, I'd really nuch rather write a review of this magical island and its people.

We were pre-booked for a helicopter transfer from our Air NZ flight and this was handled extremely smoothly. When - not if - we return to Tokoriki, I would certainly utilise this service again. It was quick, easy and maximised our precious hours on the island. We have previously stayed at a nearby resort and travelled there by boat, but the helicopter is a much better use of time. Husband had never travelled by helicopter before but the laconic NZ pilot put us at ease.

On arrival, we were whisked to the reception area and greeted by the Tokoriki view to die for ... this, coupled with a refreshing cool towel, made an excellent opening impression. The welcoming party, led by the inimitable Ramsey, made each and every visitor feel special.

We were then escorted to our accomodation ... we had booked a Sunset Villa for 8 nights, and this was beautifully situated at the northern end of the island. It was everything we had hoped for, and more. Of course, we very much enjoyed the privacy of the plunge pool at the villa, but were also happy to lounge at leisure at the main infinity pool, and return to the bure for a quick dip.

It is hard to sum up our visit without sounding 'gushy.' If I had a constructive criticism to make, I would certainly do so now. But having travelled extensively over the past 15 years, I can say without exception that Tokoriki is the most pleasant experience we have enjoyed. It is a place to totally relax. To stop being busy. To do as much - or as little - as you wish. It is a place to enjoy the beauty of a unspoilt natural environment, the congeniality of fellow guests, and the generous spirit of the staff.

Of the excursions available, I very much enjoyed the village visit and in particular seeing the eager learners at the junior school. I took some exercise books and pencils from NZ as gifts, and there was also the opportunity to interact with the locals. It was a privilege to be guided to this village.

I also snorkelled every day - twice a day most days - and this was exceptional. Regular sightings of sharks and turtles off the main home reef. Excellent sites on the Sacred Islands trip, and also the chance to visit Duncs Canyon -- my best snorkelling ever, and that includes Hawaii and the Barrier Reef. Compliments to the Dive Staff for their help, especially Rara.

We ate at the Teppanyaki, delicious, and compliments to the chef. However we were also very happy with the main dining 'room' ... open air and back lit by the torches gleaming on the pool.

How to sum up Tokoriki ... the stars which hang in a black velvet sky at night? The glorious sunshine? The sea, which manages to be crystal clear and sky blue at the same time? The bright white sand?

No, in the end, Tokoriki's greatest asset must be its staff - they are the life and soul of the resort.

He Tangata, he tangata, he tangata .. it is people, it is people, it is people.

Thank you, Tokoriki.

Bula Balmac,
Vinaka for your wonderful review on your recent stay at Tokoriki Island Resort. Thank you so much for sharing your kindness with the school children in the way of school supplies. Very much appreciated! With beachside markets offering souvenirs, a Kava ceremony with the Chief of the village and a visit to the school to see the beautiful children with big smiles is a 'must' when visiting the resort. It was a pleasure to have you both at Tokoriki and thank you once again for sharing your Tokoriki experience with the world! We look forward to welcoming you 'home' to Tokoriki again soon. Let me know so that we can have the champagne on ice for you in your bure. Vinaka from all the Tokoriki Team.

I stayed in a sunset pool villa with my partner and we had a great time. The room was spacious and cleaned daily, we had a day bed, sun lounges and our private pool, not to mention access to the beach which was good to swim in at high tide. We had an outdoor shower which we made use of, it was completely private and awesome. We were the last villa on the southern end so we were far away from the main area. The only negative thing about the location of our villa was it was right across from the staffs area and they seemed to be doing some digging next to our room which got a bit noisy at times, but that's ok as we realise maintenance needs to be done.

As many reviews have said the staff is amazing. They remember your names and nothing is ever a hassle for them. People have said things about slow service however we did not find it that bad at lunch and dinner times even when it was packed.

The Spa is awesome as well we spent some time there relaxing which is just what you need on a holiday, I found the prices reasonable compared to Sydney spas particularly with the deal they had which was pay $300fjd for unlimited treatments over 3 days.

The food was awesome, the lunch and dinner menu changed daily so you never got sick of the menu. The Chefs do an amazing job to keep everyone happy. Our favourite entre was the 'Kokoda' which we got every night and the Sandy Ice Cream/ Brule for dessert.. Yum.

They have many activities there with village tours and snorkelling trips, we also went deep sea fishing which was good.

We checked out some of the other Bures and they are awesome as well. If we were to return we would probably stay in the beachfront Bures and save some $$$. The main area has a large infinity pool and a number of sun lounges.

All up we had a very nice, relaxing, peaceful and private holiday, we would return.

One room tip for the pool villas, we stayed in SPV5 and found that the lighting inside was very dull. Its only a small thing but the inside shower is very dark at night so perhaps brighter/more lighting with a dimmer or something? Thats the only improvement I can think of :)

Oh and I love the no kids thing.... No kids taking over the pool area hehe

Room Tip: The Sunset Pool Villas are awesome if you want to spend the money. I would recommend the beach front...

Bula and vinaka for you wonderful review. We are happy you enjoyed your stay in our Sunset Pool Villa and thought our Deluxe Bures were excellent as well. The quality is the same, except the Sunset Pool Villas, are of course double the size and have the private plunge pool. The lighting has been designed to offer a tranquil ambience in and around the bures, and there are reading lights over the bed for more light.

The Spa is magnificent and the unlimited spa offer at the moment until May 31 is an amazing offer and relaxing experience. Our Spa has just won the 2012 Vision award at the Fiji Tourism Excellence Awards. With a new launch of new products arriving in May, more awards are set to come our way.

Did you enjoy the cold towels delivered to you around the pool? A special touch to keep you cool in the tropics.

Kokoda is easy to make, just email us for the recipe. You can find the email address on our website. The Chef is delighted to share his recipes with his guests.

Vinaka once again for your great review and we looking forward to welcoming you 'home' to Tokoriki soon. From all Team at Tokoriki we say a big 'bula vinaka".

I took my wife to Tokoriki for her birthday for 4 nights and we had a very enjoyable stay. The Villa beach front Bures were very nice, the staff were very friendly, great food, fantastic views, make sure you take a walk up the track, behind the resort, this will give you a birds eye view of how beautiful Fiji really is. Also the day trip out to sacred Island, best snorkeling ever.
We were very well looked after by everyone and we will be back some time soon.

Room Tip: We stayed in Bure 25 and i would happyly take that room again

Bula and thank you for your positive review on your recent 4 night stay with us. Great tip to suggest the hiking track to the top of the island. Amazing views, great photo opportunity too! We do not offer a gym as you know, but the hiking track is perfect for leg works and the kayaks for upper body work, tennis for overall fitness or a good beach swim will keep you fit (as the food is so good, exercise is important to go home looking tanned, fit and healthy. We are delighted you enjoyed your Sacred Island snorkeling tour. It is certainly a highlight at the island. We have just refurnished all our Deluxe Bure with stunning soft furnishings, so we look forward to your comments on the upgrade! Our new wine list has just been released with many new wines by the glass options. It's a great way to sample our great selection of fine wines. We look forward to seeing you again one day soon at Tokoriki Island Resort. Vinaka from all the Team.

Bula!
While on this side of the world for work in Australia, we decided to take advantage of our location and spend our 31st anniversary at Tokoriki. From the moment we landed in Nadi to the helicopter transfer (swhich e highly recommend) to our serenaded welcome at Tokoriki, we couldn't have been more pleased. Ramsey was wonderful as well as the rest of the staff, catering to our every need. Being Americans, we like our cold drinks and ice was not set out freely. We would take our ice bucket to the bar at mealtime and have them fill it while we ate. While this may be trivial to some, to us it was primo! aand by day 2, it was already waiting for us! Every staff member knew us by name, even tose we had not met, which amazed us. beautiful bure, private pool and cabana, beautiful sunsets and even the 1 day of rain we had, mother nature provided us with a double rainbow in our backyard! Also, Americans are always looking for a bargain. This is not the place for that, but compares favorably to another resort in St. Lucia, just different. HIghly recommended and so glad we took advantage of this opportunity!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a room with a private pool. Well worth it!

Bula and a big thank you for your wonderful review. We are proud of our Sunset Pool Villas (only 8) with the plunge pool being the perfect place for your afternoon cocktails and sunsets. The Fijians are truly amazing with remembering our guests names, likes and requests. Ice buckets are a must in the tropics for all! By the way Ramsey now features with his big smiling face on our website home page! He is a star! Congratulations again on your 31st anniversary and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. Maybe that rainbow had a pot of gold waiting for you to return to paradise! Vinaka from all the team at Tokoriki.
