Vomo Island is one of those places you come to relax. Although the snorkelling is fantastic and the rooms are really good, the best part of Vomo is the staff. They are always friendly and accommodating and they treat you like family. When we first arrived we were asked have we been to Vomo before. When we said "No" the staff member said "Welcome home" - thats how it feels. Don't expect the sharp snappy service of a European or American resort, expect to be treated like family in a relaxed atmosphere.
The highlights for us were the picnic on little Vomo and the sunset cruise - the best we have ever experienced. We look forward to coming back.

Our family of nine stayed at Vomo after many visits previously(in fact 12).
Stayed at the new Palms self contained house which has everything.
Your own pool, 4 bedrooms (2 in separate villas) and everything one could ask for.
Vomo is a very special place we comeback to during the NZ winter.
Very much recommended

Stayed 7 nights and for the first 4 days, we never saw our 7 yr old after breakfast. He chose to eat lunch & dinner in kids club. Eventually we had to bribed him out. Meals were mostly exceptional which is difficult to do when the 3 course menus for lunch & dinner was different each day. The accommodation was lovely & spacious enough for 3. All beach side cabins had decks that faced the beach. All along the beach had hammocks & lounge chairs under shade. Only one pool which filled with children mostly from 9-10am and 4-5pm. The staff were just like lovely and magnetic. Little ones would just run up to them with open arms. During dinner, and if kids club was not suitable, a staff would try to keep little ones occupied so you could relax & eat your dinner. Although there are daily snorkeling tours, there is plenty off the beach on either side of the island. We had a totally relaxing, luxurious & fun stay. Thanks Team Vomo. Hint: if you are light sleeper bring ear plugs. The AC generator can be noisy late at night.

Bula MCSydney,
Thanks so much for taking the time to provide a review of VOMO.
We are so happy to know you enjoyed a such positive family time with us.
Occasionally when the wind blows in a certain direction, you can hear the generators that power our island electricity. Sorry to hear this was the case during your stay. We look forward to welcoming you again to Vomo to create more family memories.

Synopsis: Family of four... Mum, Dad & two boys aged 8 and 2yrs. Self employed dad who usually takes one good break a year so we like to make it worthwhile. Prefer luxury. Excellent food and drinks a priority.

Wow. Just wow. Vomo you were seriously like nothing else we have taken the kids to before. We have stayed in some luxe adults only places before but to be able to take the kids and experience a similar level of attention to detail, service, inclusions and true Fijian hospitality was absolutely incredible.

We stayed for 7 nights in a beachfront villa which was perfect. A few steps to the sand. Great deck with comfy deck lounges. The room itself was big enough for the four of us easily. Our oldest slept happily on the day bed and not quite 2yo in a cot. Bathroom is great and clean and bath similar to a pool! It's huge! Walk in robe a highlight too. So easy to see everything. Not that you need much between the daily laundry service and your swimwear!

Although there is only one pool, it's totally fine as Vomo is small enough to feel like you are there on your own. At times we had the pool to ourselves. It's a very short roll from the poolside to the restaurant for lunch. The three course lunches and dinners did not disappoint at all. We have been to Fiji a few times and prior to staying at Vomo I would say Fijians aren't known for their culinary flair but Vomo has this covered. The food was exceptional. The staff go above and beyond to ensure all your families needs are met and more. This is one island that doesn't adhere to Fiji time. Food and drink service is timely and drinks are cold. Special shoutout to Henry at the Vuda bar, he knows how to keep our turtle beers the coldest!

Our youngest boy decided to get sick (croup) on the island and require prescription medication. The staff took our frantic 2am phone call and arranged a phone consult with a GP on the mainland by 8.30am the next morning and at 11am I had the medication in my hand after it arrived on a boat from mainland. Outstanding.

Both kids enjoyed kids club and the services of a baby butler. Kids club is included and baby butler services very fair. The kids dinner at kids club each night makes for super relaxed mum and dad.

Vomo is an excellent holiday destination for the family that likes their holidays with a touch of luxury whilst also being able to take their kids with them. I cannot think of one piece of constructive criticism. I honestly cannot. Everything was top notch and in our opinion - well worth the money. As I said to the GM when we arrived, we aren't the type of family that does return trips to same destination. We prefer to see something new. Vomo changed this for us. We will 100% be back. It's really is like coming HOME.

Vinaka Vomo. You blew our expectations out of the water. See you again soon.

My wife and I spent a wonderful 4 nights at Vomo in a Hillside Villa. The room was excellent, with a large bathroom, plenty of room and a really nice outside area. The weather was sunny with very little wind except for one day. We took advantage of the 11.00am snorkeling expedition all 3 days available to us, and snorkeled each day on our own. Our snorkeling highlight was being able to see and photo a turtle being cleaned by cleaning wrasse on our last morning. Having two outstanding beaches on either side of the island is a real plus as you would nearly always have an acceptable swimming/snorkeling option regardless of wind direction. The snorkeling is definitely up there with some of the best we have enjoyed (and we snorkel around the Pacific a lot.) and is very accessible. For the best snorkeling go up the passages to the reef drop off and just enjoy. We enjoyed the 9 hole par golf course, which had a few challenges you don't find on most courses. The Rocks Bar is simply wonderful with a western outlook to watch the setting sun.
Vomo isn't adults only which means the meal times are impacted by typical family interactions. The pool is quite small and was the place where the families tend to hang out so we didn't use it, but with such wonderful beaches and and plenty of chairs and shaded areas it didn't bother us.
Two criticisms would be that not all meals were of the same usual excellent standard, and prices for wine are close to double I would expect in NZ. The breakfast is however outstanding.
The staff are wonderful and were very responsive to any needs.

Room Tip: Be careful if you are looking for a hillside room -some are close to the generators. Room 24 (ours) wasn't affected.

Bula Graham M,
Thank you for your feedback about your recent stay at Vomo. It is lovely to read that you enjoyed your time with us.

The wines, many of which are sourced from New Zealand, Australia, do have to be brought in by freight from overseas and this does incur costs which are going to price it higher than what you would pay in New Zealand where it is produced locally. Added to that, the Fiji Government do impose taxes and duty that have to be added to the cost unfortunately.

We appreciate your feedback regarding meals and have passed this onto our Indulge Team and Chef.

regards
The Vomo family
