Fantastic intimate resort, well suited to couples or small groups of friends. We enjoyed diving, kayaking, swimming, drinking and all of the entertainment put on by the resort including a Fijian night and kava ceremony. The natural beauty of this island is stunning. The staff and owners are amazing people, very friendly.

Couple of small points: the restaurant is very remote so some of the food is maybe not of the same quality that you would get in Denarau for example. Recommend the fish dishes. There was a bit of rubbish around the resort. The cleaning of the bures was a little inconsistent depending on the day. Also some of the bures are on a slightly different part of the beach to the others. But these were really minor things, didn't really detract from this amazing resort.

Bula

I hope you arrived home safe and sound and that the weather is being kind to you back in the UK. We really appreciate the time you have taken to write a review as we know you all lead busy lives. I am happy to hear that you really enjoyed your time here at Viwa Island Resort and it was great to go diving with you.

Unusually for us we had some rubbish wash up on our beach which is due to the king tides (high tides) and changed currents. We try to continually pick this up as soon as possible to keep our beaches in the immaculate condition they normally are. I am sorry to hear that the cleaning of the bure was inconsistent and I can only apologize for this and we will follow up with housekeeping.

We hope that you get the chance to come back and visit us here again at your 2nd home here at Viwa Island Resort.

Vinaka.

After being overwhelmed by the array of resorts on offer in the Fiji Islands, we were led to Viwa because of the limited number of Bures and for us the lack of a kids club was exactly the break we needed.
From the moment we stepped on the sand all stress began to disappear.
Roy and Louise are incredible hosts and Akquila an amazing manager.
The staff were friendly and warm and nothing was ever too much trouble.
The Bures were perfect, sitting on the verandah with the gentle sounds of the ocean lapping at the shore, as much or as little as you wanted to do. Vata is just the best, as are all the staff, from the band to the bar to the grounds, massages, cleaners and cooks.
Food, delicious and never left hungry, great value on all fronts. We were incredibly lucky to make some great connections with other travelers from all parts of the world.
We truly felt like we were part of the family and loved seeing the villages and the local school.
we have so much of the world still to explore....but seriously, want to come back here.
The hardest part of the holiday was leaving.
Thankyou to all for an incredible stay. Keep doing exactly what you are doing.

Spent four nights with family here, had a blast. Roy & Louise and the staff were so friendly and hospitable, we met some awesome people and we have come away making friends for life and we will definitely be back. We tried the discovery diving course and it was an amazing experience, the visibility and the marine life is unreal. I highly recommend coming here, you definitely make your moneys worth staying at Viwa Island Resort.

It was great to have your family here and especially special to be able to teach your family to scuba dive - I hope you go on to carry on your underwater experience and I get the chance to show you more dive sites at Viwa Island Resort.

We look forward to you coming back to your 2nd home and 2nd family here at Viwa Island Resort where you are always welcome to come back and relax.

Our experience during a recent stay is as follows:

1. The beach: lovely and warm for swimming. Plenty of fish especially at an incoming tide. Each Bure has lounges an a hammock for relaxing, very nice.
2. Snorkelling: off the beach is ok. Not a lot of coloured coral, but a few ok spots. We went on the free snorkelling trip, the first stop which was further away was not interesting, coral all brown, the better area was located in front of the nearby village, some nice coloured coral can be seen.
3. The grounds: beautifully maintained and lovely.
4. The Bure and housekeeping: clean, private and nice Bure although some fittings quite dated ( clothing cupboard). Housekeeping a bit hit and miss, our Bure was usually missing items that needed replacing, had to ask for milk, soap, clean towels a few times. Cleaning was completely missed one day.
5. Staff: Fijian staff naturally and genuinely friendly. All good here.
6. Local village visit: was interesting but we spent more $ than expected. We were made aware of the $5 entry fee which was fine and that there was a market and school but there was no pressure to spend. This was not our experience, we felt somewhat obliged to donate at the school and buy items at the market.
7. Meals: disappointing for us, and the main reson for an overall average rating for this resort. While meals are tasty and beautifully presented, portion size is very small. Breakfast is included in the room rate and cooked to order. if you choose a cooked breakfast, eg omelette, this consists of a modest size omelette and 1 piece of toast...that's it. See photo. Anything extra is charged to your account. Smallest room rate inclusive breakfast I have ever encountered. Other meals are similarly small, you will need at least 2 courses for dinner, or you will go hungry. The meal plan does not offer any value over going a la carte, as most days you would need to order the most expensive menu items to come in at the same price for the meal plan. The bread roll served at dinner is the same size as the butter portion, see photo.

The transfer to the ferry is a 40 boat ride on the resort boat. Very rough on our return journey, and not recommended.

Room Tip: Only 11 bures, so you cannot go wrong. No 1 closest to main resort building.

Bula Lucia,

Thanks for the feedback on your stay at Viwa Island Resort. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the natural beauty of the island. I am sorry to hear that you were left disappointed with other aspects of the resort. We are frequently praised for the food that is served at the resort and therefore surprised to hear that you did not enjoy this as much as our other guests, however we appreciate the feedback and will continually monitor the situation and seek ongoing feedback. Our housekeeping department aim to clean and replenish the items in the room every day, if this has not happened then I must apologise for this and will investigate what has happened. Our reef in front the of the island was slightly damaged by the largest cyclone in the history of the Pacifics last year however as you say there is still good snorkeling to be had and we also do snorkeling trips on our boat for free every second day to the larger reefs that were less damaged. The feedback on the village visits has always been positive. The Fijian culture is not to be pushy therefore I am surprised that you felt you were being pressurised into buying or donating at the school this is certainly not the intention.

I hope that you will return to Fiji to enjoy the Fijian hospitality and that you will do that with us here at Viwa where we try to make this a second home for all our guests and friends.

Vinaka.

Roy.
