The Jinjiang MetroPolo Classiq Shanghai Jing An Temple is a nicely restored property from the 1930s. It is located about 10 minutes from Jiangsu Road Station on the Shanghai Metro. It is about 1 mile from Jing An Temple (an awkward walk from the Jing An Temple stop on the #2 Airport Bus if you are pulling luggage--and taxis were hard to hail at the bus stop!). The room was nicely decorated in a refreshing and modern style--and the housekeeping standard seemed quite high. My room did not include breakfast--and I found the buffet to be overpriced relative to quality--although comparable to other hotel breakfasts in Shanghai (I only tried it once--the options on Jiangsu Rd near the Metro such as red bean filled buns and spicy pancakes were delicious and quite inexpensive). On the other hand, it was nice to be able to have free watermelon and tea in the lounge in the late afternoon. The hotel overlooks the Yan'an elevated road--but I found the room surprisingly quiet given proximity to the freeway. The neighborhood around the hotel has many attractive parks and old homes--Hunan Rd. for example makes for a pleasant walk (you can walk easily from the hotel to the Shanghai Library and Line 2 of the Metro in roughly 20 minutes--and the route is very beautiful!). The staff were friendly and helpful. The room price was an extremely good value--especially for such a beautiful and clean room.

It's an art deco hotel with a great location, which is easy to go to anywhere in Puxi area.

The room is of sense of design. I like the sofa, bench, dresser and jewelry box. However it's a bit to narrow and small. And the materials are of limited quality standard.

The staff of this hotel are not very much of sense of service. I could hear them chatting in Shanghai dialect while the guests are queuing up there waiting for service. In this matter, it has some distance to reach international hotel management standard.

The breakfast is very average.

Jinjiang MetroPolo Hotel Classiq Shanghai Jing An Temple is a beautiful art deco hotel, right in the heart of Shanghai. Nice breakfast, good service, and a convenient location just near Nanjing Road. I will go back there.

This is a nice hotel to stay in. It's modern decor and helpful staff make it a pleasure. Well equipped gym... Tea in the afternoon... and spacious rooms make it a treat. It is between Jing'an and the Former French Concession.

This is a great Hotel in a great location. I have been here for 11 weeks now (minus 2 weeks that I went back to the states), starting in April, with another 5 weeks to go. This is a historic building, designed and built by Laszio Hudec. He became know as the father of modern Shanghai Architecture, and this was his and his families residance for a decade. There is also a museam down the stree that was also his residance before moving into the hotel. The hotel was built in 1936-37. But don't let that fool you. The renovation work done a few years back make this one of the nicest boutique hotels I have stayed in. The rooms are exceptionally clean, and well maintained. The staff is friendly, and they go to any length to please you. They offer an afternoon social for guests which includes House Wines, Beer, and snacks. There is also a "High Tea" with deserts for an additional charge. The morning Breakfast Buffet is very nice with a wide selection of both Local and Western fare. A wonderful feature is how incredibly quiet the hotel is. Even being on Yan An Rd. West, where the drivers love to use their horns, it is quiet! There is no micro wave in any of the rooms, which slightly hinders a long stay, but remember this is a classic or boutique hotel, and not an extended stay service apartment. They offer a Dry Cleaning and Laundry service, 7 days a week with a 24 hour turn around. A small Fitness facility is available 24 hours a day. The Wifi service is free very dependable. Short or long term, I highly recommend Metropolo.

Room Tip: Back room of hotel are quieter, but street side upper floors (8-10) have better views.

Joseph you made my day! thank you for your business, I wonder how you found this hotel? I am the brand EVP based at corporate office. We are part of a mid-scale lodging chain and this historic building is a MetroPolo Classiq boutique as you say. The brand core elements are the eats-meats-west-buffet breakfast from congee to croissants, the FREE Evening Social every day, the fitness center, FREE wifi and the brands signature plush bedding. The location is good and you mention too the attentive service-lovely! This hotel also has a large number of larger balcony rooms and two room suites for longer stays. Soon there will be 9 MetroPolo hotels open in SH, most of them the Classiq boutiques in historic buildings all renovated for this new brand. Thank you again for your business as well as your 5 circle review, it means a great deal to the staff.
