Located this hotel on the internet while in Costa Rica and wanted to get closer to San Jose as the leave date approached. We ended spending 3 nights here and were able to visit close attractions and small towns, using only the local buses and a couple of taxis. Wonderful accommodations and great breakfasts (especially the papaya jam made by Jose). Met several other guests and we all seemed pleased with our choice.

Room Tip: There are only 6 cabins but we had the best view of all I believe.

Hello girls!!

"Jam made by Jose"?? HAHAHAHA!! You're kidding me!! :):):) I must say that all that Jose does is help me removing the jam, Jose is the worst chef in the world!!! hehehe
Anyway we are happy that you enjoyed Mango Valley, we'll continue cooking our famous jam :)

Be happy!

Jose and Maite have created a lovely oasis outside of the hubbub of Grecia. With their command of several languages and their commitment to hospitality they are a welcoming homebase for travels within the Alejuela area. Views from the property are fantastic. Breakfasts are fresh and satisfying. They offered us inside information on places to visit within the area as well as turning us on to a great restaurant just up the road. The picture on their website of the parking lot does not do it justice. Mango Valley is run by remarkable people who have chosen to try something different outside of the corporate rat race by offering uncommon hospitality in a gorgeous setting.

Room Tip: Our room overlooking the valley was the best!

I found Hotel Mango Valley by accident last year and three couples booked a week at this special place.., so when the opportunity to return to Costa Rica became a reality I couldn't think of any other place I wanted to stay.. Maite and Jose will be your friends for life once you meet them. The cabins are clean, well appointed and comfortable. They go out of their way to make you welcome, assure you see every thing you want to see and if you just want a quiet, beautiful place to rest, you get that to. The view of Poas volcano, the valley full of coffee plants, the flowering landscape with more hummingbirds than you would ever expect to see.. I can't say enough good and I've been recommending Hotel Mango Valley to everyone who visits the Central Valley area of Costa Rica.

Room Tip: Any room is good, but chose one of the three cabins with porches overlooking the valley for a great...

Gayle, Robert, we are thrilled that you think of us that way :)

You already know that what makes us happy is that our guests are happy... Or maybe is that, because we are happy, our guests share our feeling. Who knows?

Anyway, it was a pleasure to have you here again. Please, take a picture in the 100 km once you are in Spain, that is the day that you start believing you can do it ;)

Thank you very much for your comment!
Hugs,
Jose and Maite

Our three night stay was the 'hide away' that we needed following an intense week of traveling. Our cabin with balcony was exceptionally cozy and the cool mountain air at night made for great rest. The nearby restaurant had incredible local foods and we would highly recommend working your way through the menu! Our hearty breakfast was enough to get us through the day. More importantly, the helpful information and home made maps that Jose and Maite freely shared with all the guests made for easier travel in a country where road signs are not overly abundant. We love staying places where the owners love their work. Mango Valley Hotel is one of them.
