Casa Cielo was amazing. The House and pool are beautiful and so are the views, it is minutes away from town and Springs. The owner and his wife and family were very hospitable, not to mention master chefs. We will visit again!
6 of us (4 adults, 2 kids) stayed here for 4 nights, including New Year's Eve. The physical property is beautiful and well-thought out, with a pair of bedrooms on the main floor sharing a bathroom, and then an upstairs suite that includes a separate (door'd off) covered balcony a large bedroom with sitting area, and its own bathroom. The outdoor space includes a small two-part pool and a large, covered sitting area with a bar and wood-fired pizza oven.
Paul was the consummate host, seeing to anything we wanted, including daily breakfast, a pizza night, and a taco night. On NYE, he even had us help him set off fireworks at the restaurant across the road.
Piece of advice: rent something with four wheel drive. The road is, let's say, adventurous!
All of Casa Cielo is beautiful - the house, the grounds, and the view. More than that, Paul, Rosie and their family are great hosts. Casa Cielo is somehow both a B&B with a knowledgeable, local expert to guide you through creating the journey/adventure/getaway you want while making sure you are well-fed with local delicacies, and at the same time, a vacation rental with an amazing, well-kept private home for you to enjoy. No review can fully capture it. Book, go, and see for yourself.
Paul, Rosie and their entire family were such excellent hosts! I cannot say enough wonderful things about their home and their hospitality. Before our arrival, Paul sent us directions, info on the area, and put together a suggested itinerary based on our preferences. He made planning our 5 days in Fortuna far easier and was able to make reservations on our behalf as well which we really appreciated with our limited Spanish. The house was beautiful, spacious, well-ventilated and well-suited to our group of 4 adults and 2 children. The view of Arenal was amazing from the master suite and patio. The house includes books, movies, and games for the kids. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of pots/pans, storage containers, diff size cutting boards, mixing bowls, knives, spices, etc - this was the most well-stocked rental home we’ve seen in Costa Rica and they have truly thought of everything to make you feel at home. Also, the pool and outdoor space was perfection - just beautiful. The location is a bit outside of town, but we enjoyed the privacy and peacefulness. They are very close to Leaves and Lizards so we were able to take advantage of the nearby hiking trails and even got to milk cows at the barn!
Paul and Rosie serve an amazing breakfast every morning and offer an excellent (and varied) menu for lunch and dinner (which we took advantage of most days after having experienced the breakfast!) They modified meals to suit my dietary needs since I have a gluten allergy – they even made gluten free pizza. Do yourself a favor and order the poached eggs breakfast, the BBQ dinner, any of their pizzas and at least one pitcher of sangria. I truly cannot say enough good things about our experience at Casa Cielo. They make every effort to ensure your visit to Fortuna is one of a kind and they succeeded across the board. It was a real treat to get to know their family and we cannot wait to return. Thank you Paul, Rosie, Bill, Stephanie, and Lucas!
Our group of 4 had never been to Costa Rica and didn't know what to expect. What a awesome 7-day adventure we had due to the hospitality of Paul and his family at Casa Cielo! We were treated as special guests but now consider the Robinsons part of our family. We started each day with a delightful cooked-to-order breakfast and perfect Costa Rican blend coffee then spent our days either relaxing poolside, viewing luscious green flora including tropical bird-watching or listening to the peaceful sound of rain. When planning day trips, Paul either gave us a wealth of travel ideas and great places to dine or made the arrangements for a spectacular riverboat trip down the Rio Frio. Several nights we enjoyed fabulous meals at Casa Cielo prepared by Rosy and enjoying the company of Paul and his dad Bill. And did I mention the home we stayed was comfortable, beautiful and stocked with everything we needed? Our thanks to the Robinson family for exceeding our expectations for a great vacation and making us fall in love with Costa Rica. Pura Vida!
