This cute little restaurant is right in front of Playa Grande Surf Camp. Food was very good! Wish we had eaten here more!

Just spent a week in Playa Grande and had many great meals at Mar Azul. On our last morning we even got to see a troupe of howler monkeys playing in the trees nearby!
Food is fantastic for both breakfast and lunch. Great fruit smoothies and patacones. The breakfast tacos with chorizo were also awesome! Atmosphere is perfect.. great music and decor. And Victor makes everyone feel welcome and at home. When you're in Playa Grande, be sure and stop by!!

Thank Amy C

New owner bought this restaurant last week and food was delicious! Very friendly owner who is a local. Had the breakfast tacos, granola and yougurt, and chocolate chip pancakes. Located at the surf camp, cute atmosphere and had crayons and Legos for kids, and a deck of cards. Nice gesture for folks with families.

This is a great spot - only open for breakfast and lunch, but they do a great job of both. They have inventive smoothies and cold drinks. The mint was my favourite. Their breakfasts include really fresh fruit and all will provide a good start to your day.

The setting is really what makes it. A small space with tables and chairs made out of trees - very nice. It's right on the street, but somehow the trees and hibiscus hedge make it feel very secluded. It appears to be a small operation - we had the same waitress no matter when we went and not sure who was in the kitchen, but certainly not more than two people.

Can't remember all the details of what we ate, but it was all good and the traditional dishes were great!

The staff here conveniently asked us where we were staying and when we were leaving. Be careful at this restaurant and others in playa grande. We were watched near the end of our trip and our safe and cottage was broken into. They wait until you are about to leave and connect with others who will do the crime, then split the profits.

Really? It's rather farfetched and quite frankly racist that you felt it appropriate to use this medium to slander a small business with a staff of two extremely hardworking women. Whilst it is totally disappointing and damaging to our entire community if a visitor to our area is robbed, it is also completely unfair to take out your anger on Trip Advisor making unfounded allegations against our employees. I do hope your property manager guided you in making a proper police report so that as a community we can have more support from local authorities to combat these incidents of thievery that can happen anywhere in the world. Judging by your Trip Advisor profile you haven't had much luck with traveling so far, or you only review with malintent. I'm honestly sorry that you were robbed here, but please reconsider your one star rating of our restaurant. its completely irrelevant and unfair.
