Manuel Antonio is the “Cancun” of Costa Rica and Los Altos had a high rise feel. However, the staff was extremely friendly (especially Vanessa and Gabriel) and the pool and beach very pleasant. Awesome trails around the property. There are several great restaurants nearby (Cafe Milagro and Emilio’s Cafe.)
The one negatives is the elevators that open directly into the rooms and often open into floors/rooms that are not your own! A real security/safety issue. The cleaning staff entered and never announced themselves, which felt strange.
Otherwise, the friendly staff was definitely the highlight of Los Altos! We enjoyed the guard and his cat Tigre.

Easy taxi ride to Quepos marina. Taxis charge flat $10 fee for most rides around hotel. Did not want to use their meter. Accurate up to date maps of the trail system is not available. Recommend gps to keep your location.

Room Tip: Bring salt pepper and cooking oil. Short walk to grocery/liquor store.

The service was great and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The food was great and very diverse. The reception helped us book great tours and gave us great tips for our trip. The room we had was HUGE and very luxurious. The pool is very nice to relax and the spa is too. The beach is a great place to look for shells, hermit crabs, and monkeys! Lots and lots of monkeys.

Room Tip: great service, good food

Our family of four (two girls 15 & 11) stayed here for 4 nights over Spring Break. The condo was huge! It was comfortable, clean and modern. The condo had a huge open living room that looked out over the ocean. The master had a king bed; 2nd bedroom had a queen and 3rd bedroom had two twin beds. The staff was so nice and welcoming. Always helpful. They arranged for all of our excursions - and we were happy with everything. We enjoyed sunsets by the beautiful pool every evening - and ate dinner by the pool several evenings. Loved the seafood! Animals we saw while hanging by the pool in the evenings include sloths, 2 Macaws (wow!), monkeys, toucans, and parakeets, and tons of other birds. 2 for 1 Happy hour is 4-6 everyday! The breakfast was good too- you can get fresh eggs, omelets made to order. Also made to order - pancakes (shaped and colored like toucans, monkeys, etc) and yummy french toast. I was a little bummed there was no bacon or biscuits (I am a southern gal!) but that is me just being picky. Fresh fruit, cereal, juice and breads were also available. There is access to the beach - via trail or shuttle. Take the trail down at least once or twice to see monkeys, sloths, and whatever wildlife there is.....They have chairs at the beach and you can order food and drinks there too. The set up is a little primitive and the beach is rocky (It's called Rocky Beach!) but my kids did enjoy boogie boarding (hotel supplied the boogie boards) so it was fine. Wear your Chacos. Overall we were thrilled with the resort and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Thanks so much for taking the time to write this review Shari! It is very satisfying for us to see when we succeed in goal of providing our guests the most comfortable and spacious option in Manuel Antonio to relax and recharge for the next days adventures. We are also very encouraged to hear we were able to help recommend the areas best activities. It's great to see you and your family took advantage of our trail system and our Private Nature Reserve. We love being able to share up and close wildlife encounters with our guests and are proud to know we have the largest private reserve in Manuel Antonio. As you experiences, our beach can be rocky at times, it all depends on the season and the tides. We leave it in its most natural state as well believe its most beautiful that way. We are glad you found the beauty in it too. We very much look forward to your next visit! We hope to see you back soon!

We just completed a 5 night stay with our family of five (children age 20, 17, and 14) and we had the best time! The rooms are enormous, the pool is the best we've experienced, and the location of the resort is unbeatable in that you can walk to the supermarket, restaurants, and have wildlife viewing opportunities literally upon arrival! The staff are warm and friendly and work hard to make your experience purely pleasurable (shout out to Gabriel and all the Karolas staff, as well as, Fabio at the front desk and Felix in the beach truck). The resort arranged all of our transportation and excursions. We saw an octopus while snorkeling and sailing with Planet Dolphin, were astounded with the vast amount of knowledge regarding the fauna and flora of Manuel Antonio provided to us by Roger, our tour guide for the national park, and the El Santurario canopy tour was so incredibly fun, as the staff are amazing and hugely comedic! The free breakfast provided at the hotel is delicious and the setting (ocean view open air restaurant with macaws flying overhead and sloth and monkey viewing) starts each day with pure bliss! Thanks to all for making our stay so memorable!
