I stayed at the Cabinas Espadilla for five nights in August 2016 with my husband and two boys, ten and almost two years old. We loved the hotel! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our room was well equipped with a safe, coffee maker, flat screen TV, A/C, and fridge. It was quite spacious as well and nicely furnished and decorated. We felt at home right away.
The grounds are lovely and so is the pool. It is quite big and the water is nice and warm. We spent at least an hour in the pool every afternoon. It was so nice just sitting on the steps in the warm water, surrounded by beautiful tropical flowers and pretty water fountains, watching squirrel monkeys and howler monkeys pass by on the power lines next to the hotel and iguanas sunbathe on the sun terrace next to the pool. Tropical paradise!
Guests staying at Cabinas Espadilla can also use the facilities at the nearby Hotel Playa Espadilla, but we never did. There is a pool that is quite similar to the one at the Cabinas, a tiny baby pool and a concrete tennis court, which was too cracked to be actually playable, according to my husband, who plays tennis.
The location of the hotel is great: the town beach is only a few metres from the property and the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park is a short walk up the road. There’s a good, inexpensive restaurant right across the street at the Costa Linda Hotel (I wrote a separate review) and a nice little ice cream place a few steps further.
Breakfast is served at the Hotel Playa Espadilla. It consisted of tea, coffee, fruit juice, fresh fruit, toast, cereals, cakes, pastries, and a choice of six different cooked dishes. I tried the omelette, fried eggs in spicy tomato sauce and traditional Costa Rican breakfast. The omelette and fried eggs were very good, but I didn’t like the traditional breakfast as the gallo pinto was quite bland. We have had much better elsewhere in Costa Rica. I also found it a bit odd that there weren’t any butter and jam on the first two days and no plain butter, only herb butter on our last day there. Apparently, people are expected to eat dry toast or toast with herb butter and jam at times. Overall, the breakfast was good, though.
I have only a few minor complaints i.e. the soap dispenser in the shower was empty from our second day and was never refilled, coffee was only replenished once and the Wi-Fi connection didn’t always work.
All in all, we loved our stay and would definitely stay at the Cabinas Espadilla again if we ever return to Manuel Antonio.

This was our first visit and we where welcomed by a very friendly host. During our stay he more then once visited us to request if everything was in order and if we where enjoying our stay. Great hospitality.
The cabina was nice and had a refrigerator. Ideally to put water and other drinks in we bought at the local grocery. We where closely to the swimming pool and in front of the cabina there was a small place to sit. The hotel, where we had breakfast, was just a couple of yards away and the breakfast (and diner) where good. The premises is not that big and very quite, not counting the noise of the forrest of course ;-). We had a great time and if we return to Costa Rica, this place and the Cabina Espadrille will certainly be on our short list again.

We were warmly welcomed by Leo, who was very friendly and helpful! When he overheard us mention to each other that our surf lesson left before breakfast, he arranged to have "breakfast to go" so we could take it with us! Our room was bright, clean and air conditioned - nothing extraordinary, but perfect for what we needed. Quick walks to the beach and the National Park, and a perfect pool for when the kids needed a break from the salt water and waves! We felt so comfortable here and would definitely return!

Clean and neat Hotel, Rooms are decent and big enough as well as the pool.
Really close to the Park's entrance.
Rates are fair enough as well.
The cabins are separated from the Hotel, but you can go to the Hotel and have a breakfast, meal or dinner

Stayed 2 nights at Cabinas Espadilla as part of an Explore tour with breakfast 50 metres up the road at Playa Espadilla, which was one of best 2 breakfasts in 2 weeks in Cost Rica. Rooms have a kitchen, but it wasn’t really of use to us. Rooms appear to be in rows of 4 with the 2 end ones having a patio area out front with chairs, whilst the middle ones have access to a back yard. 2 double beds, but one of them severely restricts entrance. Most of facilities in room, a/c, safe, wifi, TV. Small pool and access to town beach down a path. Town beach was nowhere near as attractive as the one in the Miguel Antonio Park.
