Loved our stay at the Cabinas! The rooms were clean and the bed linen super crispy and white. A/C was powerfu and safe in room. Didn't need the kitchen area so had our suitcase on the breakfast bar. The rooms are tight because of the second double bed but loved the fact that you step outside and you are surrounded by lush tropical gardens and could watch the monkeys and bats just outside our room. The pool area is also quiet (I suppose quieter than up at the hotel) and were watching the resident iguanas. The breakfast, a short walk around the corner to the hotel (not a problem at all), was plentiful and a variety of cooked options available a-la-carte, freshly cooked. Huge portions!
Locations is really good as close to the beach as well as Manuel Antonio Nat Park. We were lucky to get a tour of the grounds around the hotel by Eric who told us all about their "green flag" status and their conservation efforts and to be eco-friendly. His passion and enthusiasm was inspiring. The hotel has a private nature reserve surrounding it and they are making progress to return the surrounding area to a natural status with indigenous plants to provide food and shelter for wildlife, rather than having landscaped gardens. Our group had the pleasure to help with these efforts by planting trees and this was very special to have "our" trees and helping to make a tiny difference.

Visited with friends and the place is just beautiful. A lot of nature, wildlife, beautiful beaches, just beware of the monkeys. As a national park goes there are some restrictions on the food and drinks you can enter with. This however helps the with cleanness of the place.

I stayed at the Cabinas Espadilla for five nights in August 2016 with my husband and two boys, ten and almost two years old. We loved the hotel! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our room was well equipped with a safe, coffee maker, flat screen TV, A/C, and fridge. It was quite spacious as well and nicely furnished and decorated. We felt at home right away.
The grounds are lovely and so is the pool. It is quite big and the water is nice and warm. We spent at least an hour in the pool every afternoon. It was so nice just sitting on the steps in the warm water, surrounded by beautiful tropical flowers and pretty water fountains, watching squirrel monkeys and howler monkeys pass by on the power lines next to the hotel and iguanas sunbathe on the sun terrace next to the pool. Tropical paradise!
Guests staying at Cabinas Espadilla can also use the facilities at the nearby Hotel Playa Espadilla, but we never did. There is a pool that is quite similar to the one at the Cabinas, a tiny baby pool and a concrete tennis court, which was too cracked to be actually playable, according to my husband, who plays tennis.
The location of the hotel is great: the town beach is only a few metres from the property and the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park is a short walk up the road. There’s a good, inexpensive restaurant right across the street at the Costa Linda Hotel (I wrote a separate review) and a nice little ice cream place a few steps further.
Breakfast is served at the Hotel Playa Espadilla. It consisted of tea, coffee, fruit juice, fresh fruit, toast, cereals, cakes, pastries, and a choice of six different cooked dishes. I tried the omelette, fried eggs in spicy tomato sauce and traditional Costa Rican breakfast. The omelette and fried eggs were very good, but I didn’t like the traditional breakfast as the gallo pinto was quite bland. We have had much better elsewhere in Costa Rica. I also found it a bit odd that there weren’t any butter and jam on the first two days and no plain butter, only herb butter on our last day there. Apparently, people are expected to eat dry toast or toast with herb butter and jam at times. Overall, the breakfast was good, though.
I have only a few minor complaints i.e. the soap dispenser in the shower was empty from our second day and was never refilled, coffee was only replenished once and the Wi-Fi connection didn’t always work.
All in all, we loved our stay and would definitely stay at the Cabinas Espadilla again if we ever return to Manuel Antonio.

This was our first visit and we where welcomed by a very friendly host. During our stay he more then once visited us to request if everything was in order and if we where enjoying our stay. Great hospitality.
The cabina was nice and had a refrigerator. Ideally to put water and other drinks in we bought at the local grocery. We where closely to the swimming pool and in front of the cabina there was a small place to sit. The hotel, where we had breakfast, was just a couple of yards away and the breakfast (and diner) where good. The premises is not that big and very quite, not counting the noise of the forrest of course ;-). We had a great time and if we return to Costa Rica, this place and the Cabina Espadrille will certainly be on our short list again.

We were warmly welcomed by Leo, who was very friendly and helpful! When he overheard us mention to each other that our surf lesson left before breakfast, he arranged to have "breakfast to go" so we could take it with us! Our room was bright, clean and air conditioned - nothing extraordinary, but perfect for what we needed. Quick walks to the beach and the National Park, and a perfect pool for when the kids needed a break from the salt water and waves! We felt so comfortable here and would definitely return!
