My wife and I were at the beach in Puntarenas, Costa Rica and decided to eat lunch at Las Delicias del Puerto. We asked the waiter, Edwardo, what he recommended. In a very animated way he describe what sounded like a wonderful meal. The item was their version of Mariscada, a seafood medley that was not on the menu. We ordered the meal at his suggestion. We are not big eaters and usually share a plate at most restaurants in Costa Rica. This waiter failed to tell us that this dish was huge and we were shocked when we saw a platter that was 2 feet long and over a foot wide, piled high with shrimp, crab, lobster and a variety of clams on a large bed of rice. We were mortified and should have sent the meal back at that time, but we chose to eat what we could, about 1/4 of the dish. We were shocked again when we got the bill to learn that the restaurant charged us over $80 for the meal including 2 beers and an automatic 10% tip.

On the way home we decided to call the manager and complain about the way that we were manipulated into buying this plate by the unscrupulous waiter, Edwardo. My wife who speaks fluent Spanish was assured by Alexandra Casillo that the restaurant would provide a refund for our troubles and apologized. After a few days, we noticed that no credit to our account had been made, my wife called again only to learn that our telephone number had been blocked by the restaurant.

The only recourse we had was to contact our bank, Citbank and dispute the charge. To date, we have yet to hear from the bank about this dispute.

Couldn't decide what to get, the waiter was very helpful and surprised up with a seafood platter for the three of us, it could've fed 4 or 5, but was interesting and delicious. Open dining right across from the beach. Always full with locals and visitors.

I have yet to fall in love with Costa Rican cuisine, but this place is pretty nice. I had a smaller portion of the conch ceviche (nice, but I prefer the shrimp ceviche or the mixed fish/shrimp) and a whole spineless corvina. The fish was unfortunately deep fried which kills any taste it might have had. Service was great though and you can pay with credit card, which is always appreciated. Fullest place on the whole beach, so must be ok in comparison.

Fresh and delicious food. We tried ceviche and the House's pasta. The waiter help us a lot with quite accurate descriptions of their food.
Love the flavor, fast and nice service and fair price for it.
