During our visit to San Jose we dropped by at Pandeli twice- once for afternoon coffee and once for brunch. The atmosphere of the cafe is very welcoming and has a nice mediterranean feeling to it. The staff was very attentive and gave us recommendations. The brunch was great- we tried the "sahanda" eggs and the mediterranean breakfast and you could easily tell the food was high quality and fresh. They also bake their breads and pastries on the premises and we managed to get a slice of baklava that was still warm out of the oven- it was to die for! Their croissants are delicious and their rosemary bread was a very tasty surprise. Pandeli is a great choice for a relaxed afternoon coffee after a long day of walking around or a nice weekend brunch you can enjoy with a fresh cup of turkish tea. Strongly recommended!

I visited this place recently. It was the whole family plus a a friend. This cafeteria is truly outstanding, it is owned and managed by Turkish people, so the Turkish dishes are quite good. They also operate as a bakery, and their bread does not disappoint. If you have to visit a cafeteria this is the place.

Located on Calle 33 in the Barrio Escalante, this upscale little cafe has comfortable seating in a terrace style presentation. Offering healthy Mediterranean style breakfasts, paninis, with a great choice of vegetarian options and a wide variety of baked goods, including baklava and pasteis de Belem. I had a cappuccino, an orange juice, and a croissant "arreglado". The coffee was excellent, and piping hot; the generous serving of orange juice was freshly squeezed, and the croissant, filled with Manchego cheese and Jamon Serrano, then gently oven baked, was just right. Professional, efficient and friendly service rounds the place out nicely. CRC 5390, including tax and tip.

Pandeli has become one of my favorite spots in San Jose.
I could finally have some spanakopita in Costa Rica.
Their meringue lemon pie is superb, the torta de belem is great, biscotti are sooo tasty and well the coffee is just fantastic.
It's a small cozy place I would defo recommend and go back again and again.

I am very much positively surprised to find a cafe (although they also call themselves bakery) such as this where you can have best croissant of San Jose along with Spanish sausage and cheese. Fried eggs with feta cheese and tomatoes served in a typical copper casserole was also very tasty. Not to mention the organic yogurt with walnuts.
I am sure Pandeli is also great for lunch
