We arrived in Sa Pa early in the morning and met with the famous guy self-proclaimed "funny ben" !
A room with nice view, hot water, heater and hot blankets : that's what he promised us with lots of sympathy. How could we turn down ?
Price was okay : 8$ for one couple. Nice view. And hot blankets were working on.

Yet, no heater and Mister Ben was not so much fun. You can really feel he's being nice with you until you book, but as soon as you're in the room : he does not exist any longer for you. No explanation where you can ride and he lent us a very poor scooter that failed in the middle of the countryside.

Anyway, very cheap hotel where you should have your soulmate to warm up with, but the atmosphere is not so kind as the title "Funny Ben" may inspire you.

When we arrived, the hotelmanager lured us out of the bus with his 8$ offer. We followed and thought the rooms were nice with a beatifull view. We wanted to do laundry ourselves but that wasn't allowed. So i bought a bucket in front of the hotel en did it anyway.

One night we came back from dinner and in the lobby there was a party. The hotelkeeper offered me weed and we decided to share the beer we brought with us. After 00:00 hrs he les us move to the balcony because of the noise.

So yeah, the hotelmanager is quite strange but funny

The hotel room was basic but fine with hot water, fairly reliable wifi and cable tv. But the stand out was the view, absolutely amazing view of the mountain range and an easy walk to Cat Cat village (40,000 dong entry). Try to stay on the top level for the best views and also no noise from reception.

I think we were charged a slightly high rate for what we got, and make sure you agree on the price with Ben the manager. Other people feel they were charged too much.

Hotel Mimosa or Green Tree (as you wish, this hotel has two names) is located in downtown, near the market, where is possible to find very good and cheap food. BUT that is all. The owner of the "hotel" is playing dirty game, unfortunatly you find out it very quickly that he is not your friend! The prices which you agree with him, pay immediately, NO LATER, later will be the prices higher! IT IS OUR OWN EXPERIANCE. The same experiance had several other people who we met there and spoke about this man. So Mr. Ben, you are only cheater, nothing more. We hope that the internet reviews will break your dirty game.

Room Tip: Look for another place!

got off a bus in the morning to be greeted by ben (son of the owners) who gave us a good deal $8 a night. is in central locating next to the markets, shops and resturants. had a huge double room, gave us 2 beds even though we just needed 1 but was useful for the extra blanket. had a heated bed as well because sapa was very cold in january. arranged a few treks with them as well, they were good with no problems. also booked the day train from lao cai to hanoi with them which all went smoothly. overall a good cheap no thrills guest house.
