We spent two nights at OWB IN march,2018. The bungalow is very Polynesia, though not morden, it was comfortable and good location to public beach. This side of the island it has constant breeze during our stay, so there is no mozzies and we just open our glass door the whole time without any AC. But that also means the ocean is quite wavy. We were able to snorkel twice a day, we usually get into the water from the furtherest beach from the resort and just snorkel along and get out of the water into our bungalow. We stayed at 104, not the best but better than others as ours was still facing the ocean not the beach. We had nice sunrise every morning. We enjoy snorkel very much. Though there is kayak for free, we didn’t use it due to windy conditions but if ocean is calm, you can kayak toward the coral garden near Sofitel private island. I think they have newer OWB the following months as they were renovated them during our stay. Receptionist told us that wifi doesn’t work well at OWB, but we were lucky, most of the it works. Overall, we had a good stay. Not really sure about rest of the rooms as the beach rooms don’t seem have much privacy.

Maitai Resort is located on the main island, sandwiched between the Sofitel and the Intercontinental resorts.
Being on the eastern side of the island, it is great to take in the gorgeous sunrises but can get quite windy due to the easterly that dominates for most of the year. No worries though, even if you don't stay at Maitai's own beach, west-facing Matira Beach is only a 5-minute walk away!
We stayed at the reasonably-priced apartment-style room, rather than the overwater bungalows. We loved it because we were at the top of the hill, and could enjoy unobstructed views every day.
The rooms are nice and tidy, with a great balcony.
There's a convenient supermarket about 2 minutes walk, which is a lifesaver to get basic food at a reasonable price.

Here are the negatives, none of which are dealbreakers:
- The bathroom. It has a set of blinds that face INTO the bedroom, and you can't close them! This means the other person will see you when you're in the toilet, or taking a shower!! It's a bit weird.
- The Wifi sucks. It has poor signal pretty much everywhere.
- Airport pickup pricing. We were not told that the pick up was going to cost 1400 CFP per person one-way. This is way too pricey considering it's only a 9km ride.

Overall I felt the hotel was reasonably priced in comparison to all other similar properties in Bora Bora, but still makes you feel like you're in a glamorous place. I 100% recommend staying here.
They offer free beach towels and free kayaks. Kayaking is a handy way to explore the surrounding area at your own pace and enjoy the incredibly clear waters. The hotel also books activities with no surcharges (among which I recommend the pontoon boats! So fun!)

The Maitai Polynesia is a boutique type hotel. The reception area and the lanai rooms are across the road from the lagoon. The breakfast restaurant and a very small dinner restaurant are on the reception side of the road. The beach bungalows and OWBs, of course, are on the lagoon side. I would recommend that only stay in the OWBs at this hotel. The beach bungelows for the most part do not have much beach. There is a 6 foot rock wall behind the bungalows to separate them from the road and provide a noise barrier but I believe road noise could be a problem. I was able to touch the wall with one hand and a beach bungelow with the other.
Lunch is served in a restaurant by the OWBs. The food is pretty good here. Dinner is also served here or in a small restaurant behind reception. This restaurant has very few tables but the menu is a little more up-scale. We had a very nice dinner here. Breakfasts were terrible. Scrambled eggs were made from powder, I believe, and very few other choices at the buffet: some yougert, breads, sausages, and bacon. Eggs inedible.
The hotel grounds are well-kept. They also are eco-friendly. They are trying to rebuild coral and provide interesting material on the process. They also inform you as to why u should not feed fish bread: it can lead to diabetes. You can purchase fish food for $6.
Our OWB, (106) was very nice. Water was deep and we enjoyed snorkeling and feeding the fish. Management was very responsive when we had a problem. If you stay in an OWB, make sure u request one in deep water and with a view. On our walkway only stay in 104 or higher. 101 to 103 have blocked views and can be in shallow water.

We have a pleasant time at the hotel. The staff is super helpful and nice ( Ia Orana Anthony!). The room is a little wear out but we can not complain for the price of an overwater bungalow with a magnificent view to the lagoon. Room cleaning service is done everyday and did a good job. There are two little super markets on either side of the hotel ( 5 minutes walk) offer all the essential goods( beer, wine, fruit…). The beautiful Matira beach is about 10-15 minutes walk. The hotel is also close to Avis car rental as we did rent an electric car to explore the island on our own, and on the last day with a few hour to spend before our late flight we rented a scooter available through Maitai hotel to go to Vaitape and Matira beach. We also had a few good meals with the Tama'a Maitai beachside restaurant in evening. We definitely recommended the hotel to travelers who seek good and nice place to stay without overspending for accomodation.

Room Tip: room 106, 107, 108 best view of the lagoon
