“Perfect”

The Pioneer Ridge Bed and Breakfast was perfect for our trip. I brought a high school basketball team to the Doc Larson Roundball Classic basketball Tournament in Wasilla, Alaska. The tournament put us up at the Pioneer Ridge Bed and Breakfast. We could not be more pleased with how we were treated. Everyone in Wasilla was nice and courteous but the Pioneer Ridge Bed and Breakfast was willing cater to any need we had. We had late games that we got back at late hours and there weren't any problems. We were able to go the the store to purchase meals for ourselves, keep the food in their refrigerator, and eat on our own schedule. There are also endless amounts of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate that went over very well with our entire traveling group. Regardless of the reason you are up here or the time of year, if you would like a great place to stay with fantastic panoramic views of the mountains than this is the place for you.

Room Tip: All rooms have multiple beds and a bathroom.

We love having large groups at our B&B, so we appreciate that you were willing to take the time to share your enjoyable experience. With the three large common areas in our B&B, we offer plenty of space to hang out with each other, enjoying the views, taking a sauna or playing pool or foosball!

We hope you are able to bring another team up to Wasilla again. We'd be glad to have you again.

Thank you,
Shannon & Leny

Perhaps an oxymoron by some definitions, I can only describe Pioneer Ridge as rustic elegance. What was once an old dairy farm has undergone extensive repurposing and renovations to become a warm, rustic, log-cabin feeling B&B. Although there are different themes to the rooms, lodgepole pines, wooden furniture, and comfy quilts dominate the decor. We were the only guests in the B&B and had the chance to peek into all of the rooms. Each had all of the charm and warmth of a cozy log cabin, without any of the negatives of staying in an actual cabin.

What we felt really separated Pioneer Ridge from other B&Bs are the unique room options. Many had extra beds that would be perfect for families. And the Alaskan Heritage suite that we stayed in had a dropdown Murphy bed, full kitchen, and its own laundry room. This was perfect to refresh our laundry during our trip through Alaska.

You won't find a TV in any of the rooms, but we didn't even notice. Depending on whether you want to be social, seek some quiet time, or play a game, there are 3 nice common areas to gather and spend time. The main area is right off the entrance and serves as the dining area and sitting room. There is a internet-connected computer available in this room if you DO need your connection to the outside world. Down the hall is a nice game and billiard room. But best of all is the large glass cupola, up the spiral stairs. Pioneer Ridge has a spectacular view of the Chugach Mountains. Take advantage of it by spending some time sitting in the cupola with a cup of tea or coffee.

Wasilla may not seem near many of the Alaskan highlights, but if you're heading to Denali, I would highly recommend skipping an overnight in ANC and heading to Pioneer Ridge on the way there. It was about an hour drive from the airport and made the drive into Denali much more pleasurable. There is a Walmart just a mile away from the B&B to stock up on your food supplies as well. When we get back to Alaska, we'll be sure to stay again.

No doubt, the best B&B I ever stayed in. The rooms were all decorated in a theme, which was very interesting. The place had no problem having children as guests. My kids loved the pool room, the observation deck and the friendly dogs. The owners were very friendly and sat down for a chat at breakfast. Breathtaking views, too.

We were pleasantly surprised how nice this place was. This is what a B&B should be! It was clean, cozy, captured an amazing view of the Chugach Mountains, and the breakfast was delicious. The staff was very kind and the other visitors were very pleasant and interesting to speak with. They have a sun room on the roof that is perfect for a bottle of wine and snacks on a rainy summer evening. We had the whole room to ourselves to spend the long evening playing chess and talking. The rooms with a bathroom have a jacuzzi bathtub.

My husband and I stayed with our 3 older children (8-12) at Pioneer Ridge for 2 nights. We were in the McComb's room that is right off the entry. It was spacious enough for two roll-away beds, so we were all very comfortable. For even MORE luxury, next time we would stay in the Alaskan Heritage Suite (washer & dryer!) but our room was comfortable and clean.

We spent a day in Wasilla & Palmer, going up to the gold mine, the Ititarod Museum, the reindeer farm & hiking, all suggestions of the very hospitable hostess.

Breakfast was hot and served to all at a common table. Reindeer sausage was delicious, pancakes or French toast, scrambled eggs, fruit and coffee or tea. Also there was oatmeal, yogurt & dry cereal to choose from.

Highly recommend!
