Initially we wished to stay at the cabins located right at the north rim but as our plan was to go in November ; cabins were closed so we decided to stay at the Jacob Lake Inn.We stayed here for one night on our way to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon but we wished we could have stayed there for longer..Really such was the impression:) Truly this is the peaceful gateway to the beautiful North Rim.
You enter the main building only to find out that this is actually hotel's restaurant cum Navajo(Native Americans) artwork shop with a small reception counter in the corner where smiling staff member welcomes you.Rooms and Cabins are just behind the main building.Cabins were closed for the winter; so we stayed in a room and it was very inviting .Room was quite big and clean .We got the ground floor room with a patio. The room had an old world charm with rustic finish furniture and a big jumbo sized TV .The bed (which was very cozy) was covered with the navajo handcrafted sheet which added to the warmth of the room.
The only negative point was the washroom:( There was only shower (no bath tub);that too was very tight though the overall size of the washroom was ok.
The restaurant was quite good. Food was also very good but menu was limited with not many options for vegetarians( i got a sandwich customised ).They can add more options to the menu .Service was satisfactory.
The hotel staff was also very hospitable and helpful. They told us in detail what other places we should cover apart from the north rim;giving us some road maps.
We left with a wish to visit again:)

Thank you for your review. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and found the accommodations comfortable. We do not offer bathtubs because of the scarcity of water in the area and the fact that we have to haul our own water. Showers use less water than bathtubs. I am glad to hear that you felt welcome and that you would like to have stayed longer.

We took a road trip over the summer to visit several National Parks. We stopped at the Jacob Lake Inn for lunch on our way to the north Rim of the Grand Canyon. We enjoyed the dining room with Native American rugs and art covering the walls. There were six of us and we all enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. We purchased a few souvenirs at the gift shop -- They have a large variety of Native American art, jewelry, pottery, and other gift items at all price ranges! After staying overnight at the Grand Canyon Lodge, we made a point to stop at Jacob Lake again for lunch the next day on our way north to continue our "National Parks Vacation." We did not stay over night at the Inn, but it looked like a pleasant place to stay.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry you did not find the bakery special. Most people love our cookies. Come again and we'll see if you like them better.

Lovely looking place, very inviting. Its an assortment of bakery and native american shop, plus hotel.
Room nice and clean, no-in room coffee or microwave, so even though we had our own coffee no means of making it, being from uk we were up at 4am and the first coffee we could get was at 6.30am.
We had dinner in the most beautiful restaurant decorated with native artifacts, rugs and paintings, but unfortunately the meal wasn't great. We had a wonderful beef and vegetable soup but everything else on the menu was either a sandwich or a burger, which seemed odd considering the surroundings and the uniformed waiters.
We would have expected a more comprehensive menu. The sandwiches were okay, but served with warmed up fries that weren't' too fresh.

Thank you for your review. We do not have coffeemakers in the rooms in compliance with US Forest Service fire regulations. I will give your comments about the fries to the food service department. Unfortunately, you stayed with us late in our season, and we had changed from our on season menu to our off season menu. That explains the lack of options you found in the dining room.

We were there is mid- September, a spectacular time to be in the area. The Inn has old parts and new. We were in the old part, which is charming. Old pine walls, furniture and trim in the rooms, very nice sized rooms. The bathroom was a little funky, with a flash water heater taking up a lot of space, but still adequate. water is at a premium in the area. Very clean, nice beds.
