Our second time in Grahamstown, The Milner, 8A Grahamstown sister guesthouse feels like you stepping back in time with wooden floors and big lounge with a warm fire going when we arrived, hight ceilings and colonial meets modern. The staff make you feel like you part of the family. Great touches with everything you need in the rooms - Nespresso machines, and even the history books in the rooms. There is a lovely library and a lounge for the kids. Not to mention the garden which rolls out in every direction and a braai pit in the corner under the trees. The honesty bar is well stocked and tempting and has everything from beers, wines, ragu biltong and sweet treats. Monica and Noxee are lovely and friendly, and make you feel right at home. Definitely recommend staying at The Milner if you on business or visiting your kids...we will be back!

Room Tip: Near schools and university

What a find!

I spent one night at this establishment after a staying at a horrible hotel in the same province. Right from when you enter the gates you are made to feel welcome.

The bedrooms, the bathroom/ shower is heavenly. Lovely smelling lotions and big thick towels.

The bedroom is beautifully decorated as the is the rest of the house. Coffee machines in the bedroom an added bonus!

Although not normally done, supper was prepared for us. It was delicious as was breakfast. The garden is a treasure, the loyalty bar wonderful to still experience.

The staff are all amazing.

A wonderful place to stay.

The only thing missing from this amazing guest house is in room air conditioning! With Grahamstown’s extreme summer heat it can be quite unpleasant at night with just a fan to circulate the hot and humid air. A/C units today are virtually all reverse cycle so also for the cold winter nights this would be an expense well worth it!

Was so impressed with The Milner , that staying there made dropping my daughter off at her first year of Rhodes a lot easier .... The gardens are beautiful and full of bird life. Very close to town and easy to find - definitely a place to stay if traveling to Grahamstown.

Wow - stunning. What a relaxing, beautiful setting. Monica and Linda were perfect. Have not met Sarah but spoken to her over the phone. I am returning this Saturday and would not want to stay anywhere else. Looking forward to it.....
