These gardens are beautifully situated, a pleasure to visit, and so beautifully maintained and laid out. The plants and trees are all identified. The walks are soothing and so pleasurable. you could visit every day and have a different experience as there is just so much to see and explore.

This small oasis offers a perfect scenery to relax and forget the city life, it is perfectly located behind table mountain and have millions of protea plants among others like Stertlizia

Like many of the other positive reviews say, a delightful place to visit if you’re interested in gardens and photography like me. Be aware that there is lots of walking including up/down sometimes steep slopes. The overhead canopy (see photos) is great but not sure if wheelchair friendly?...saw other reviews indicate it’s not so perhaps something the gardens management needs to address as most National gardens around the world have at least part of their gardens wheelchair accessible. I’m more aware of this as at the time I had spinal issues/back pain...since then surgery which has helped. However, I’m still aware that people in a situation like mine really need to be able to access nature and gardens like this should be a way for them to do that. There is a really lovely cafe/restaurant so when I started to tire I spent some time lingering over coffee & later lunch while my husband walked up/over/around the many hills. You can spend many hours there if gardens of great interest to you. Some parts reminded me of Australian landscapes.

We sacrificed going up Table Mountain to visit the botanical gardens, as we didn’t have time to do both, and did not regret it. Despite the lack of water in Cape Town Kirstenbosch remains green. We toured the gardens in a buggy in order to see as much as possible and were stunned by it’s beauty. There were still plenty of flowers to see and the aerial walkway should not be missed. The cacti house is also well worth spending some time in. Altogether a fantastic day with wonderful views.
