This is a small tented camp, max 10 guests accomodated in 5 tents. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the gamedrives were interesting, the ranger told us a lot about the animals and the environment. Also the staff in the main lodge shishangeni is very helpful and friendly. Alltough this camp shonga is 'in the middle of nowhere' and they serve only one menu, for our youngest daughter, who is a vegetarian, they made a separate meal!

I can't say enough incredible things about our stay at Camp Shonga! Texan, Norman, and the rest of the Camp Shonga staff were absolutely outstanding, and met our every need! The lodging was so authentic and unique. Every meal we had was delicious and the presentation was phenomenal! Texan (our game driver) was so knowledgable, and made sure we had the best experience possible. Not only did we see all of the big 5, but we had amazing treats at sunrise and sundown during every game drive. We had a lot of questions, and Texan answered them all. I highly recommend Camp Shonga to anyone visiting Kruger. It's truly an experience that we will never forget, and definitely an opportunity of a lifetime!
Thank you to our amazing Camp Shonga staff!!!

Travelling through South Africa for almost 3 weeks and staying in over 10 different places this is the most relaxing and spectacular stay we had.
Many thanks to Evaristo, the host, Texan the ranger and Regina the cook.
I never wrote a comment on Tripadvisor, so this will be our first as it was absolutely fantastic !

Camp Shonga is immersed in the reserve by the hills, and animals pass by to go to the river - so a good chance you'll see elephants/giraffe/zebra right by your deck while lying in bed. I did!
The game rides are truly amazing and the density of game in this private reserve is unbelievable. Tex, our ranger, is very experienced and is relentless in making your dream sighting come true (saw lions, leopard, cheetah, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, jackals, hyenas, porcupines, hippos (in & out of water), wilder beasts, kudus, and many more!).
The camp is comfortable and has lots of character. With no more than 10 guests at the camp, it feels very private. The food is amazing and comes in large quantities. The tents are large and full of character with the bath tub by the deck, the outside shower, the mosquito net and the chimney. Very clean.
I will come back with my family as soon as my youngest is old enough (6y)

Room Tip: All rooms equally good (I was in #2)
