My husband and I stayed 3 nights at Camp Shonga after travelling in Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique.
Camp Shonga is special - a private reserve in south east Kuger. The camp has 5 tents - perfect! There is a larger compex in the concession but you do not get the "safari" feel there.
The "tent" is fabulous - 2 leather chairs- a fabulous king bed - an outdoor shower - all looking out to the wilderness. Watch giraffes walk by while you shower - can it get any better.
Our guide was terrific - we saw everything except cape buffalo because there aren't any on this area.
The food was excellent - the staff wonderful - a truly great safari experience.

This is a small tented camp, max 10 guests accomodated in 5 tents. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the gamedrives were interesting, the ranger told us a lot about the animals and the environment. Also the staff in the main lodge shishangeni is very helpful and friendly. Alltough this camp shonga is 'in the middle of nowhere' and they serve only one menu, for our youngest daughter, who is a vegetarian, they made a separate meal!

I can't say enough incredible things about our stay at Camp Shonga! Texan, Norman, and the rest of the Camp Shonga staff were absolutely outstanding, and met our every need! The lodging was so authentic and unique. Every meal we had was delicious and the presentation was phenomenal! Texan (our game driver) was so knowledgable, and made sure we had the best experience possible. Not only did we see all of the big 5, but we had amazing treats at sunrise and sundown during every game drive. We had a lot of questions, and Texan answered them all. I highly recommend Camp Shonga to anyone visiting Kruger. It's truly an experience that we will never forget, and definitely an opportunity of a lifetime!
Thank you to our amazing Camp Shonga staff!!!

Travelling through South Africa for almost 3 weeks and staying in over 10 different places this is the most relaxing and spectacular stay we had.
Many thanks to Evaristo, the host, Texan the ranger and Regina the cook.
I never wrote a comment on Tripadvisor, so this will be our first as it was absolutely fantastic !
