Fabulous colonial style at the end of a cul-de-sac. Michelle, the owner is very helpful and has a nice little honesty bar which is very useful when in need of a cold beer. The stars of the show have to be Eunice and Simon, they greet you in the morning with welcome smiles and serve up a delicious breakfast, always cooked to perfection. The rooms are clean and comfortable. There is really nothing negative to say. It's just a lovely place to stay

Very nice, clean and comfortable. The staff made us feel very welcome. The location is great as it is close to the V&A Waterfront, not fat from public transport. We will definitely be coming back and will gladly recommend Romney Lodge to our friends.

Our friends recommend Romney very highly when they were there in February so we booked it for a week while visiting the Cape Town area. It is situated on a dead end cul de sac so it is very quiet at night. Taxis were easy to get by walking up to the Main Street. The rooms and bathroom were comfortable. Nothing over the top but very clean. What makes this Lodge is "Mama"! She is the heart and soul of Romney Lodge! She cared for us as if we were her young chicks. A full breakfast was served every morning. If you go in the summer time, there is a great patio and pool to lounge by for sundowner. Would I go back again??? You bet, if for nothing else by to be wrapped in Mama's arms and welcomed home.

What a treat this was. The place is decorated so that it feels very much like a lodge - but not in a cheesy way - it just feels right. I didn't realise it at first, but considering it is so close to the city and above Sea Point, the quietness of the place really makes you feel relaxed. There are views of Robben Island and Sea Point light house. I don't think I've ever stayed in a place with ceilings this high which still have the original press.

The staff, including Simon who personally served us breakfast, were on hand at all times, and helped us with our restaurant and trip bookings.

Apart from all this, I can't repeat enough times how well we slept.

10 out of 10 I'd recommend this, especially to couples looking for a special retreat within the city.

Room Tip: Ask for room 5.
