We too were on a Garden Route tour with this property pre-selected as part of the itinerary. We arrived on a wet, windy dreary afternoon and were met by our cheerful host Chris who runs the place with wife Gelia and her parents. We found the kitchen well stocked with wine and water "to go" on the honor system and firewood waiting on the hearth to warm us up. The 2-level abode was really quaint and well-appointed with a kitchenette, couch, nice bath and cozy bedroom upstairs with a great view of the Knysna lagoon. We stayed 2 nights and liked LOVED Chris' scrambled eggs for breakfast...my wife declaring them the best ever! We also enjoyed and purchased some of Gelia's handmade cards and gift bags which complemented the local art decorating the dining area of the lodge. We really didn't mind if the TV only got local stations and that there was no internet...it was really great to be away from that buzz and enjoy a bit of an old fashioned time reading while the fire crackled away and the wind howled outside.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a view of the Knysna lagoon...the changing light at different times of...

Myself and 2 friends stayed here for 1 night on a tour we were doing down the coast. The staff were very welcoming, helped us with our luggage and ensured we had everything we might need. Rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. Decor was a bit dated but this added to the homely, quaint atmosphere of the place. The breakfast the next morning was great with a selection of continental and the option of a freshly made cooked breakfast available. There was also an array of homemade artwork and crafts available to purchase for very reasonable prices. My only complaint would be that there were no wifi or internet facilities but as we only stayed 1 night this did not matter too much. All things considered I would recommend a stay here.

The lodge provided everything we wanted after a long journey along the Garden Route. The room was very comfortable and had a stunning view of the lagoon. Chris and Gelia produced an excellent breakfast and Chris' omelette should not be missed.
Would thoroughly recommend this lodge for anyone travelling along the Garden Route.

A beautiful location in lush gardens overlooking the lagoon and very welcoming hosts. However it’s quite dated and old-fashioned compared with other guest houses I stayed in and doesn’t offer much in the way of mod cons such as digital TV, free WiFi and A/C. Not at all bad, but is in danger of falling behind the competition which is not that much more expensive.

We stayed for two nights over the busiest weekend of the annual Oyster Festival. The hosts are amazing and very friendly, our room was nice and clean, the fireplace all prepared and ready to just light - a great touch! Even the toilet paper was left with a little paw print sticker on it... it's that kind of attention to detail that shows you that this is a well kept place to stay! There are amazing views from the rooms and the fantastic pool. The homemade English breakfast was also delicious! This is the only place we would stay in Knysna and we're already planning the next trip!
