We chose Tonquani to celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary based on the bathroom and it delivered. One of the biggest hotel bathrooms we have ever had with a big spa bath, double basins, shower and lots of very hot water. Lovely cuddly gowns are a nice touch. The bed was comfortable and the cabin is extremely well furnished. There is a small kitchenette (with fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle), the kitchen counter has 2 bar stools, the lounge was very comfortable with TV (limited DSTV - all the sports channels but limited news channels) and DVD player. There is heating/aircon in the lounge and the bedroom and although we had trouble working them out on the first night and we were cold, that was all sorted out for us before we got back for the second night. We were welcomed with a heart of rose petals on the carpet as we came through the door, a complimentary bottle of wine, and more rose petals on the bed which was a lovely romantic touch.
The grounds are beautifully kept, except round the side and back of our cabin (12) which could do with a bit of attention. We had a very nice private garden with loungers. We didn't use the pool - too late in the year and the water was freezing, but it was beautifully clean and would be very inviting in summer.
The best part of our stay was the wonderful staff who were without exception warm and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable.
The breakfasts were imaginative and delicious.
Housekeeping should be improved and the room checked before guests arrive - there was no toilet paper in the bathroom when we arrived, the DVD didn't work, there was no torch or matches to light the candles - but everything was resolved with a smile when it was pointed out.
Be very careful when walking round in socks or smooth soled shoes - the floors are extremely slippery and we had some spectacular slides. The steps up to front door are quite steep so might be a problem for guests with mobility problems.
The wifi did not work in the room but was fine in reception.

Spent two stunning days at this exceptional resort. Our accommodation was one of the larger units and it was magnificent - from the stylish décor right down to the private Jacuzzi splash pool! Breakfasts were a treat, especially when we were able to be served outside on the pool-deck. The welcoming we received was outstanding, the receptionist outgoing, friendly and very informative. All in all a wonderful experience.

my wife and I stopped over in Knysna on our way to Port Elizabeth.
Tonquani lodge is a few kms out of Knysna, set in a very quiet, restful neighborhood. We stayed in a large, secluded, wooden chalet , with a gigantic bathroom area with bath, Jacuzzi and shower place. On arrival the room was romantically decorated with little flowers, . Unfortunately it was too cold to swim in our own outside 'deck pool'
Personnel was friendly and helpful, the breakfast outside superb.
We were sorry we had only booked the one night

My mom and I arrived early for our spa treatment and the friendly receptionist greeted us warmly and offered us cappuccinos and pancakes while we waited. We had a seat on the deck enjoying the tranquil surroundings as we sipped on the beautifully made eats and drinks. The pretty treatment room had been set up that my mom and I could have our treatments together. The gowns we were given were plush and comfortable to wear. The therapists were super professional and paid close attention to detail with lovely little touches throughout our treatment. At the end we were offered fresh cold glasses of mint water. And when we settled our bill, we were told that the cappuccinos and pancakes were complimentary - what a pleasant surprise! The staff of Tonquani were so genuine and went above and beyond to make sure my mom and I had a special morning together. Highly recommended!

We spent our first few nights of our honeymoon there and what a treat! Right from arrival we were greeted by friendly staff all around. The rooms are cozy but not cramped at all and we even got a complimentary bottle of wine to celebrate.

Breakfast was delicious! We helped ourselves to the continental breakfast which even included some apple pastries. The hot menu was also delicious!! One morning they even served our breakfast in our room.

On our last morning we had a couple's spa treatment. Also amazing! We found all facilities clean and staff super friendly. I would definitely recommend it and will certainly come back for anniversaries! :)
